@moonman The other thing is that it was a mostly self-contained community for over four years until a bit ago. Federation was rare. So the site was built with little thought paid to integrating to the fediverse, plus at the time it worked perfectly as everyone used statusnet 0.98-1.01, there were no compatibility issues.

We need militarized knightly orders back. Fighting for a code of ethics rather than a faction. It'd also put more pressure on international diplomacy since there'd be armies out there who'd join the side that's on the right, rather than the one they're allied to. Countries would be forced to not attack others out of greed.

When you put it like that, yeah, I'd love to see a future where people stop acting like batcaveing pricks all the time and do decisions with other people's lives.
It probably won't happen, kuz idiots seem to be magnetically inclined to occupy roles of power; still, it'd be great -

@nerthos agreed, considering our geographical isolation there's no reason for us to be caught up in the geopolitical pursuit of continuously expanding empire than the failure to leave behind an ideology that's been proven unsustainable centuries ago

I personally couldn't be a soldier. I'm pretty sure I'd end up deserting or turning against my squad due to not being given full info on what I'm doing, or being given an order against my ethics. I could be a warrior sure, if there was a reason to like another country invading mine, I don't mind risk and fighting, but I couldn't blindly follow orders.

@nepkiwi we've given Israel some of our most advanced weapons including Apache 4 Longbow's but they're only ever willing to attack (and commit war crimes through the use of munitions like white phosphorous) against Palestine. They try to maintain a tough posture but in the end they're chicken kiwi cowards and worthless allies. Considering the weapons that we've fed to our so called 'allies' in the ME there should never even need be a conversation of US boots on the ground. If the useless bananas aren't willing to step up then IDGAF is we turn that entire kitty litter desert into a sheet of glass. *shrugs* @mrmattimation @nerthos @delores

@nerthos yeah, the amount of lives we could save in the US alone by cutting ties with that cancer is frustrating. They've been propped up for long enough IMO. If they're not willing to act as an ally in international affairs then it's time they're left to stand on their own. The political sway AIPAC has here in the US is nauseating D:

@fl0wn IMO the mistake there was of the muslim nations around Israel back in the first war for letting them survive thinking they'd be good guys. They gave Israel a chance to fortify and stock up on weapons and that's why things are as they are today. They had a chance to wipe them out but they decided to be nice guys.
