Oops.. there's another coworker now who knows I like ponies.. oh well.

@pony Don't let them judge you. If you like it, you like it!
-
-
@pony Meh. As long as it doesn't lead to problems later.
-
@chiefanchor The coworker Who just saw me drawing ponies kind of laughed a little. Nope. No problems!
-
@pony That's good!
-
@pony By the way, I was going to ask - do you actually have examples of your drawing and such?
-
@chiefanchor I could make my figure drawing and other art available, but it would require remotely logging onto my home computer and uploading stuff.. I don't have any real pony stuff yet. I'll show you the vector art I was practicing with... just a sec
-
@pony Okie!
-
@chiefanchor didn't finish the eye.. meant to add a gradient and highlight or two in the iris.. but there ya go! This was originally an OC for @princesstwilight but I messed up and made it older than originally requested. I'd have made a younger version but princesstwilight hasn't come back yet. BTW, this is a trace of Big Mac if you couldn't tell. http://ur1.ca/815fa

@pony That's actually very nice for creating something that can be used as a vector base.
-
@chiefanchor thanks! Yeah I'm satisfied for the most part with it. It took me a while to figure out how to make the line-width vary in a natural artistic-looking way.. I don't use a tablet after all.
-
@pony Neither do I. All mouse.
-
@chiefanchor do you use a constant line-width then?
-
@pony That's all I've figured how to do in Illustrator, and Inkscape feels so alien to me.
-
@pony Nevermind, found a brush that terminates open paths in thinning points.
-
@chiefanchor I know it's possible to convert a quality tablet-drawn raster image into a vector, but that's the only way I can explain how other vector artists vary their line width unless they they manually create separate shapes for the lines like I did. I'd like to know whether any vector software lets an artist vary line width some other simpler way.
-
@chiefanchor ah see there you go! nice! I wonder if Inkscape has anything like that.. I know it can terminate in round tips
-
@pony Here we go, with sleeves that actually look okayish (instead of blocky :P) http://2tu.us/44hj
-
@chiefanchor excellent! Lookin good!
-
@pony Thanks! Been hoping someone could eventually do a forward-facing version, though.
-
@chiefanchor *nods * I guess that's something you might need to use references for.. like maybe screenshots of stallions/colts with similar builds facing forward.
-
@pony Yeah, and that's out of my talent limitation right now.
-
@pony Heck, I'm lucky I scratched the jacket, collar and tie on that decently.
-
@chiefanchor ah I see! Did you only vector the suit coat then? I think you could trace an image given enough time. it just takes patience.
-
@pony Yeah, it just might boom my patience at the point I'm at now, though. I'm open to trying eventually, but not quite yet. (Yes, the suit coat was the only thing vectored - the pony form was generated from That Flash App)
-
@chiefanchor oo. there's a flash app huh? cool!
-
@pony Google up the Pony Creator
-
@chiefanchor alrighty thanks!
