    I wanted to get some people's opinions on a subject that's been on my mind quite a bit as of late. Basically, a baby born without a brain has just turned 2, but some argue that to keep him alive iss cruel since he can never have a personality, communicate etc. I was wondering what people here thought.       @leonkfox I'm not sure how to react to this. If the baby doesn't have a brain, is he suffering? Does he even realize he's alive?

        @yodelerty Exactly why I'm unsure how to feel about this, even if he isn't suffering, he basically isn't alive as far as being ssentient is concerned, so is there really any point in living at that point? It's why I don't...well, know what I think about them keeping him alive.

          @leonkfox Whether he can actually feel that he's suffering or not, it's up to the parents in the end.

          @leonkfox But there is plenty of life on earth that isn't "sentient" as we know it. Granted, it's kind of the core of the human experience, but everyone experiences it differently anyway.

      @leonkfox I reckon if his brainstem is keeping him going and the parents don't mind taking care of him, it's none of my business. I also think "suffering" is a strange term to apply here, since he'd be unable to perceive it.
