    I really really want some canon character (not sure which) to be acknowledged as something other than hetro, partly for the reason that it could be a fantastic message for the INITIAL TARGET AUDIENCE. lets face it, imagine the sheer amount of mainstream news coverage it would get. "A legitamate homosexual couple in a cartoon marketed for 8 year old girls, what has become of our great nation". It would be brilliant

      @purplephish20 that would be amazing, but would have to be a bit subtle, because, well, little girls do watch this show, and they have parents who might not want them to see that.

        @zimzap There's also the very vocal minority that'll stop at nothing to take the show out of existence if it so much as gets hinted at. Any showrunner has to be careful nowadays.

          @chiefanchor Yeah exactly, I'd prefer for it to stay the way it is currently. That way, the fandom has enough of a gap to create their own stuff, adult or not.

        @zimzap no, the point would be having it completely NON-subtle. having them specificaly have an episode about "how its ok for two mares to love each other in the same way as a mare and a stallion would" point it out in black and white. equestria is confirmed as not a heterosexual society so homosexuality WILL exist, it would just need pointing out, the simpsons did it with the gay marriage episode. the had a mane character from the very start of the series "come out"

      @purplephish20 That could easily be the ruin for the show. News coverage, yes, but not the kind of coverage that raises a show audience, but the kind that makes parents actively protest aganist it.
