@lovetolerateandsquee although you still won't know who's interested.. so there's that problem. Maybe you could set up an email account specifically for this purpose and include it on the poster. Be careful about fakes though. I'd just start with an email friendship until you can trust them. ;P

@pony "Conversion" is kind of a bete noire for me. Why can't we just enjoy the show? Why do we need to shove it in other people's faces?

@ceruleanspark We don't need to shove it in people's faces, we just want them to give it a chance. If they don't like it, that's cool, but it's nice if they just try it.

@lovetolerateandsquee it is often my experience that forcing someone into watching it results in them being less likely to like it. Even if it's just showing them one episode, if they don't want to watch then they probably won't enjoy it. Not always, but I've seen it happen like that a lot

@trister that's an interesting point of view. I've seen many testimonies from other bronies who say they were asked to watch against their better judgment, and they 'converted.'

@pony yeah, I've heard that too, but I've heard far more stories of people who have tried and failed to 'convert' friends and relatives. I think it's more of the mind set, and that those people who were 'converted' would probably have gotten curious anyway. I know I was cynical about the show when I first heard about it, but still curious as to why it had come about, so I checked it out on my own.

@trister That's true. I think it's a matter of proper preparation and timing. My wife is turning out to be a good example of the exception. She's not an animation fan generally nor is she a fan of many cute-type shows. She was cold to the idea of watching the series at first, but I bargained with her to do stuff she enjoys that I'm not very fond of if she'll watch episodes with me, and she's really warmed up to the show. She'll never be half the fan i am, but I'm just happy she likes it. This was made possible by patience and compromise on my part. If i had forced her to watch she would have just been angry and not able to enjoy the show atall.

@pony Obsessive converters immunised me against it for a very long time, and the image they've created has forced at least one of my friends to disavow his association with this fandom rather than deal with the stigma created ALMOST SOLEY by this behaviour.
