@commodorecrazycommanderofthe1stroyalbrigadeofspiceracksandcheese Well, let's see. Just like Windows, it is the place you put programs on and use them. The biggest differences between Windows and GNU/Linux is that they both look different (GNU/Linux is quite customizable when it comes to that), you usually get all of your programs from an "App Store" on Linux, instead of randomly downloading it from the web and it is generally free. Besides that it uses a POLA principle, which means that you don't get much more power than you need, making it safe in general. (Yes, I'm saying GNU/Linux, which is what most people mean when they say Linux, @toksyuryel reminded me of that, I usually say it wrong as well :P)
