  1. Gosh, I have so many pony pictures x.x I should've started organizing them earlier

    1. @loak how many pics?

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:40:25 UTC from web
      1. @delc17 Right now, 734

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:42:35 UTC from web
        1. @loak Nice collection.

          1. @delc17 Yeah, organizing these is a pain...

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:43:28 UTC from web
    2. @loak Organization is such a pain... I almost found it fun with ponies though xD - I just never know where to put stuff with multiple characters.

      1. @haganbmj I have a "Group Shots" folder with 17 subfolders. Nine of those folders involve Rainbow Dash.

        1. @puzzlemint @marrock I've been going by whatever the primary character is (if there is one) or using a group tag otherwise.. I think I'll have to swap stuff to alphabetical though - I like that idea.

          1. @haganbmj Yeah, sometimes having OCD pays off

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:48:59 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
            1. @marrock :D - I just wish I could devote myself enough to keeping things organized... I can do it if I sort stuff as I go, but just recently I downloaded 700mb of unsorted images (with a lot of duplicates) - and I'm having a hard time bringing myself to sort it.

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:53:03 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
              1. @haganbmj I have a duplicate file finder that has saved the atttered remnants of my sanity when it comes to sorting out pics.

                1. @marrock i've been thinking about how i might make one of those using Java and an SQLite database.

                  1. @nightwillow I use this one and it's worked fine for me for a long time. http://www.easyduplicatefinder.com/download.html

                2. @marrock That does sound useful - Do you think you could share what the name of such a program is? (or whichever you might recommend)

                    1. Thanks for the link @marrock! I'll give it a shot and see what happens :D

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:07:11 UTC from web
                      1. @haganbmj It's pretty easy and straightforward to use even if the interface does look a bit on the clunky side, but it works.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:08:37 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                        1. @marrock Thanks - I just installed, gonna give it a run right now and see what it can do with those folders I found offline.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:10:58 UTC from web
      2. @haganbmj Name it with the character names listed alphabetically

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:46:20 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
      3. @haganbmj I do the main char and friends. like Dash and friends. for 3 or more, i put it in group

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:46:29 UTC from web
        1. @delc17 Mhm - that makes sense. What I have now is rainbow_applejack_twilight_topicHere for example... Where rainbow dash might have a leading role in that image. It's horridly ugly though - and really should be moved to folders at some point.

          1. @haganbmj yeah, that sounds like it needs some organization. i got 2 things i keep well organized. my music and my pony pics. music, i go band name_song name.mp3 for most, but for stuff like soundtracks, i do "movie theme"_name of movie_name of song.mp3 . for anime, i do name of anime_opening or closing or image song_song name (tv size or extended or alternate or whatever).mp3

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:53:29 UTC from web
            1. @delc17 Yeah - as straight as I can keep it is what I try and do. I'm not fond of having subfolders for images - just because I mainly use them for reaction images on boards.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:00:11 UTC from web
          2. @haganbmj here are 3 examples George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic_Knee Deep.mp3 Movie Theme_Repo The Genetic Opera_Zydrate Anatomy.mp3 Prince Of Tennis_Opening 7_Dream Believer.mp3

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:57:28 UTC from web
            1. @delc17 Yeah, I think that's a successful way to keep things straight. For music, I find folders per artist/album to be worth the time.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:06:49 UTC from web
              1. @haganbmj I only have 8 folders. american, anime, comedy, ddr, ddr full, game music, oriental, wrestling

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:07:42 UTC from web
                1. @delc17 Out of curiosity, what's the difference between DDR and DDR Full?

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:08:47 UTC from web
                  1. @haganbmj DDR means game size, full means the full version of the song that was not played in the game, and if the ddr song was a cover version of a song, like never ending story, it'd have the full cover version

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:09:57 UTC from web
                    1. @delc17 Ahh - that does make sense; and is a good way to keep the two apart.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:11:21 UTC from web
                      1. @haganbmj Yeah, and in itunes, i have the songs labeled as DDR_name or DDR_name (full)

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:12:29 UTC from web
                  2. @haganbmj a good example would be captain jack 1 minute 30 second version vs the 4 minute 8 second version.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:11:07 UTC from web
                    1. @delc17 Ah that is a considerable difference. Is it worth keeping the 1:30 around?

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:12:23 UTC from web
                      1. @haganbmj if u wanna practice the timing and rhythm, then yes. at times, the full version of the song may be slower than the game version, or the ddr version is remixed a little from the full version

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:13:33 UTC from web
                        1. @delc17 Cool, cool - iTunes... I spend so much time looking up and adding in information. And I can see how that works though with practicing on the songs. I wasn't aware they might be different though xD

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:15:35 UTC from web
                          1. @haganbmj if u wanna talk about this more in depth on skype or msn or aim or something, lemme know.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:16:25 UTC from web
                            1. @delc17 Do I already have you on skype? If not, feel free to add me under the handle "haganbmj". I think right now though I just need to sit down and see what I have and where I can put it.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:17:55 UTC from web
                      2. @haganbmj A good example of what i just said was the song "Look to the sky" The full version is 6 minutes long, but there are over 3 game versions with different remixes. and the full version has different beats

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:14:30 UTC from web
      4. @haganbmj here you go. elaborate, i know. http://ur1.ca/46a2k

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:46:38 UTC from web
        1. @nightwillow That's... Beautiful. Wow - I applaud your attention to detail on that organization scheme (and might have to try emulating it myself)

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:49:16 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
          1. @haganbmj also, name the file something that describes what is going on. if there is a caption, i am sure to add it in the filename. if it goes in group and has a caption, it goes "<whoever is saying the caption, or the main subject> <caption> <any other characters present>" I also use abbreviations for the main characters: ts, pp, fs, rd, aj, rar.

Saturday, 14-May-11 02:55:05 UTC from web
            1. @nightwillow Ahh - the abbreviations are a nice idea; I prescribe to the topic-naming as well (especially in the case of subtitles/captions).

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:02:17 UTC from web
      5. @haganbmj "Multiple characters" folder, and symlinks/aliases/shortcuts/whatever in each character's own folder.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:00:11 UTC from web
        1. @starshine Ooh, that's a good idea - shortcuts linking around the folder system for each character... That'd enable me to have an excessive number of folders and still keep arranged... (time to start drawing a chart for this!)

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:05:07 UTC from web
          1. @haganbmj my "cute" folder has shortcuts linking directly to my entire fluttershy, scootaloo and sweetie belle folders

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:13:10 UTC from web
            1. @nightwillow mmk, I think that's what's going to happen (And are you saying that fluttershy, scootaloo, and sweetie belle are the only cute characters all the time lol :P).

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:16:44 UTC from web
              1. @haganbmj i didn't say that! its just that, as I was going through the characters folders, deciding which ones were "cute," I realized that I was copypasting 90% of my fluttershy folder

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:18:35 UTC from web
                1. @nightwillow Haha - Fair enough xD - That's probably the breakdown of the content regarding those characters online.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:21:14 UTC from web
    3. @rainbowflash Oh yeah - I enjoy browsing through my folders - both regular pictures and pulls off the internet. Really fun to just re-find stuff.

Saturday, 14-May-11 03:01:31 UTC from web
    4. @rainbowflash Oh yes, I certainly enjoy that. Even my facebook; which is really just trimmed down albums from public events is a great way to remember old events and reflect.
