@widget well, its like the google thing where it types real text, so it's probably a bit more complicated than that.

I think my only other complaint about Flash is the fact that I can't render PNGs above 8000 pixels in either dimension.
-
@redenchilada sounds like a personal problem. Mine can just fine.
-
@alargesmallhorse CS5(.5) doesn't seem to want to go any higher for me. It kind of irritates me sometimes.
-
@redenchilada >CS5. There's your problem... al of your problems.
-
@alargesmallhorse I've grown too used to the interface. Plus it has autosave.
-
@widget Hey, Flash is honestly not that bad as an animation platform. As a method of web distribution, though...
-
@widget Macromedia had simplicity on it's side, but Adobe had innovation.
-
@widget And yet, so dominant, entrenched, and several-industries-standard. -_-'
-
@widget Hey, watchu got against QWERTY?
-
-
@widget Whuh?
-
@widget Yup. xD
-
@scribus One of those things where it's "good enough", and that + entrenchment leads to better alternatives being unable to dislodge it.
-
@bitshift I honestly don't get how DVORAK is "better". Isn't the layout of keys simply a matter of personal preference?
-
@bitshift And yes, I _am_ arguing about a specific case when it was meant to be an example.
-
@redenchilada QWERTY was designed to impede your typing speed, so that Typewriters wouldn't jam. So using QWERTY is actually a handicap. Dvorak was made for programmers too, so that's a bonus. xD
-
@redenchilada It's more efficiently organized, common letters on the homerow, stuff like that. It allows faster typing and is supposed to reduce repetitive stress injuries.
-
@minti Oh. I guess I can see that. I can't really see myself learning a different layout any time soon, though.
-
@redenchilada I'm not convinced it is, given pretty much all the studies that ever came down strongly in favour of _either_ were, sooner or later, discredited. But the broader problem is pretty applicable, "QWERTY problem" is just a bad name for it, given how disputed the QWERTY/Dvorak difference is.
-
@redenchilada Yeah, it's like learning to write with your left hand rather than your right (etc.) Due to the difficulty it's not exactly worth it unless you're really dedicated. xD
-
@minti I'm left-handed and I find this offensive. :(
-
@redenchilada I know, that's why I added the etc. :p I meant "and vice versa." :p
-
@redenchilada I'm offended and I find you left-handed.
-
@widget Yeah, I don't have the motivation to do that kind of thing. 90% of my time I'm talking with people and using Dvorak drives me nuts cause my ability to talk is basically killed. xD
-
@minti Actually qwerty is arranged so that the type bars wouldn't catch one another... just type a word.. most words the letters wont be next to one another.
-
@redenchilada You know, when you made that I was SO tempted to make !northpaw. Like, you have no clue.
-
@redenchilada *le KO!*
-
@nlghtmaremoon That too. Still, it's arranged to make you type slower so it won't jam. :p
-
@minti I've never heard of northpaw describing righties. I guess it'd make sense though.
-
@minti we talkin about Dvorak? Cool! I'm trying to convert over from qwerty to Dvorak and though it has been awkward relearning where everything except a and m are, and I though I can't say ive gotten the hang of it, I am extremely surprised at how many words you can type just on the home row. I can see where the reduced risk of carpal tunnel idea comes from!
-
@redenchilada Me neither, actually. Then decided to look it up and found out people have used it before. So, go figure.
-
@widget Well that hump is a massive turn back for me, otherwise I'd dive in right now. :/
-
@minti according to wiki, and Rehr, Darryl, "Why QWERTY was Invented" and "Consider QWERTY" "A popular myth is that QWERTY was designed to "slow down" typists though this is incorrect – it was designed to prevent jams[4] while typing at speed, allowing typists to type faster"
-
@widget that's exactly what I do. I hate how the iPod touch doesn't have Dvorak... I Need damn practice.
-
@minti so although it slows you down, I don't think it was designed to slow you down.
-
@nlghtmaremoon Ehh, alright. :p
-
@widget yeah, I Gots linux. I'm just forced to use my windows partition more due to driver incompatibilities... Somehow my laptop runs much hotter using Ubuntu than it does with windows... Damn Sony and their proprietaryness...
-
@widget Lol ... ok "th", and "st" are not next to one another... throw the rest on there!!!!!
deadname likes this. -
@widget hmm... Interesting...
-
@widget Ooh, now that's one I've not seen before. Full-qwerty with a strong autocorrect (in the form of Swiftkey X) works well for me, but I'm open to trying mobile-specific keyboards. Just not yet found one that surpasses Swiftkey for convenience. :(
-
@widget yeah... The only thing that I think could cause something like that would be driver incompatibilities with the fan or the temperature sensors. And how you can have driver incompatibilities with a freakin fan I'll never know. Ima be building a desktop over summer though, and that will be built with Linux compatibility in mind.
-
@widget I don't have problems with the size of Swype's keys. :< And I have sausage fingers too. I don't use the actual swiping feature, though.
-
@widget One can control them through the OS with either their mobo's software or a program like speedfan.
-
@widget that's what I thought I knew, but my laptop and Sony seem to want to prove me wrong. I call SHENANAGANS! SHENANAGANS I TELL YOU!
-
@widget I've grown used to using the shift key when I need to, though. This keyboard is just awkward for me.
-
@widget I used it to type that post. It took me four minutes to type ten words.
-
@widget Haha learning morse code is something I've been meaning to do.
-
@widget I could never understand that one, except that it would be easier to type with one hand. I mean, it's not like anypony can see the morse...
-
@redenchilada .-.. --- .-.. / -- --- .-. ... .
-
@widget oh lol, I was talking about the iPhone jailbreak tweak that my friend was so adamant about... Seriously. someone made a jailbreak tweak for morse code typing.
-
@bitshift .. / -.- -. --- .-- / .-. .. --. .... - ..--..
