  1. So, it seems that TES MMO is actually a thing. Good, Bethesda. That's a really good way of shooting in the stomach your star franchise and papayas on it while it's dying.

    1. @nerthos what is tes?

      1. @mushi The Elder Scrolls, a franchise I love, but Bethesda is actively tring to prostitute.

        1. @nerthos lol, that is what always happens

          1. @mushi You can get Daggerfall for free from Bethesda's website and run it in Dosbox. If your computer can't run THAT then, well, I got nothin'.

            1. @toksyuryel what is a dosbox? And yes, it is got nothing heehhehe

              1. @mushi It's a free program that emulates DOS, allowing you to run DOS software on any computer.

            2. @toksyuryel Daggerfall is probably not the best TES to start playing. Is really good and complete, and feels more alive than any other of the saga, but it can be obnouxiously confusing.

                  1. @nerthos Seems like it'd be the only one that would actually run on @mushi's computer though.

                      1. @nerthos I have to confess, I've only once completed Morrowind normally. Every other time, I've explored just how much I can break the game's progression. (Answer: a lot.)

                        1. @bitshift I never completed the main quest. Last time I played I was working on Bloodmoon.

                2. @toksyuryel i think the worst dungeon i've ever see was the moria galery of tales of phantasia. i gave up finishing 100% of then games when i they taold me that galery has actually 20 levels

      1. @rarity >Implying an MMO would be a good game. It's not the time for MMOs, that era is already gone. An MMO needs good players to be entertaining. Skyrim abducted a multitude of casual players and idiots into TES, and right now, the MMO market is FULL of guys who don't have the slightest idea of how to play an RPG. Eight years ago, MMOs were fun, full of nice people, who knew how to play, how to learn about the lore of the game, etc. WoW killed that by selling the genre to every guy who touched a PC in his life.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:20:43 UTC from web
        1. @nerthos I guess that's true. If they could make an MMO with the complexity of Morrowind/Oblivion it'd be good. And to say that because some people act like morons on MMO's "the era of MMO's is over" is incredibly close minded.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:23:38 UTC from web
          1. @rarity There are people who claim that PC gaming is dead... even :o

Friday, 04-May-12 00:24:17 UTC from web
    3. @nerthos The bugs in that one ought to be extraordinary.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:17:38 UTC from web
      1. @toksyuryel The bugs would be the only reason to play that. I'm pretty sure I could be almost a god in one of those games. I managed to do it in WoW, a Bethesda one would be easy.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:26:50 UTC from web
    4. @nerthos They should just stick to RPGs.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:18:11 UTC from web
      1. @nibz Indeed. But not to make them simpler and simpler like they did with Skyrim. Complexity is what made Bethesda RPGs so good in their time.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:21:53 UTC from web
        1. @nerthos Agreed. Oblivion was much more of a challenge than Skyrim.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:23:17 UTC from web
          1. @nibz Yes. You could actually play a character and advance it properly. Skyrim kills that by removing attributes and such. The leveling strategy was one of the good things of the saga.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:24:51 UTC from web
            1. @nerthos Mhm. I like the duel wielding in Skyrim, put that in Oblivion and I would still be playing it.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:27:09 UTC from web
              1. @nibz Yeah, but Skyrim is all active gameplay, nothing of strategy. A monkey could navigate that game. Put a Skyrim player to play Morrowind. I assure you he won't last 30 minutes.

                1. @nerthos Ah, Morrowind. Good times. I should really buy it on steam, it's only $10 now :D

                    1. @nerthos But Morrowind. :c That's basically the only way to get it these days. You could pirate it off the internet but what are the odds of that actually working.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:33:05 UTC from web
                      1. @nibz @bitshift More than you think. It's really easy to find it and download it. It's best to pirate it than to buy it from Steam. I found a couple posts in forums with download links for the game, with expansions, patches, and graphic enhancers. Also, you can buy it used from lots of places, and with a couple more $ on the table, unopened copies on Amazon or places like that.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:37:11 UTC from web
                        1. @nerthos None of which are as convenient (except probably the piracy, but I'm morally opposed there, so that's not the right solution for me). Also, buying it used doesn't get any money to Bethesda, and I'd kinda like them to actually see at least some money for a game that they made, which I like a lot.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:40:22 UTC from IdentiCurse
                          1. @bitshift I would be opposed to piracy if there was an actual legal game market here. There isn't. Games are horribly overpriced here, and then Steam and those things. I would buy games if they sold me retail copies at a good price. Also, pirating a game is a good way to try it before buying it, to avoid the Duke Nukem Forever problem, paying for something that it's actually crap on a nice box.

                          2. @bitshift Oh, there's also Good Old Games, you buy a game there and they let you download a copy without DRMs and limitations and stuff; manuals, extras, OSTs, etc.

Friday, 04-May-12 00:46:23 UTC from web
                            1. @nerthos Oh, yeah. If a title I want is on there, I get it from there. Pretty sure they don't have Morrowind (or at least didn't; not checked for that specific game lately), though, so that doesn't help in this particular instance.
