@redenchilada sweet?
-
@pony I just find it funny because in Austin, we were lucky if our group had three meetups a year counting the convention that the group admin ran.
-
@redenchilada I wish my "local group" was actually "local" at all...In fact, they're very much not.
-
@clayinthecarpet Well, how far is Nashville for you? I know the last meetup I went to, people came from Kentucky and Georgia to meet up.
-
@redenchilada That is a bit odd. Maybe some bronies are trying to resist the #foreveralone
-
@redenchilada 5 hours away. That's a big ole' hell no. ;D
-
@redenchilada Even Knoxville is over 2 hours from here. It's just not worth the money involved.
-
@redenchilada Oh, there's a group I need to tag this to. !tnbronies
-
@redenchilada Oh wow, you're FROM Nashville. *waves at fellow Tennessean*
-
@clayinthecarpet @redenchilada I have to drive an entire 5 minutes to get to my university to attend weekly meetups #lifeishard
-
@clayinthecarpet Not really "from" so much as "living in for now".
-
@pony I hear there is a bunch of bronies in Johnson City, about 30 minutes from here...but they never post on the tricitybronies page on this site and I really have no idea who any of them are. It's kinda frustrating.
-
@redenchilada Gotcha. Still, nice place. I have artist friends down there. It's a huge city, very diverse...unlike here...:P
-
@clayinthecarpet it was the same for me back 2 years ago which was why I hosted a meetup. I actually didn't really stay in touch with any of the bronies that came, but we had fun at least. If I had been regular about organizing meetups I might have made some more permanent firends, but I don't have that kind of drive. thankfully others in my area do.
-
@pony That sounds all well and good, but I don't like inviting people to my apartment without knowing them extremely well beforehand or being able to size up their psychology online through extended discussion. That's getting a little too personal for me considering what I do.
-
@clayinthecarpet if they're not active online for you to get to know better then that's difficult. If there were no active online local groups on FB I'd probably head one of those up. I'm online enough that 'd probably be successful with it. As for me, I used a community basement since I live in an apartment and I didn't have to worry about trust as much consequently.
-
@clayinthecarpet you could try organizing it at a park or someplace else that's public.
-
@pony I can size up somebody rather quickly in person, so that's no real problem. But I'm bad at being a "leader" and organizing things for various reasons. There are definitely no active FB groups of bronies in my area (I looked), so I just gotta wait around, essentially. It's hard to make new friends when you're a stubborn old man content on doing *only* whatever the !#@% you want, 100% of the time. :P
