      3. @thelastgherkin this wouldn't be the first time there's been a character voiced by a famous person and based on their previous roles

          1. @thelastgherkin Discord?

            1. @rarity "Jayson Thiessen, the show's director, stated that the character Discord was "straight off Lauren [Faust]'s pen" and was inspired by John de Lancie's popular character Q from the Star Trek television series. At first, the production was planning on having a voice actor that sounded like de Lancie, and were later thrilled to find that they could have de Lancie himself for the part." So no.

              1. @thelastgherkin ...how does the quote you link disprove what I said? If anything it just proves me right. I said that Discord was voiced by a famous person and the characters mannerisms are based on Q. how am I wrong?

                1. @rarity Weird Al Pony is literally Weird Al as a pony. Discord is based on Q, and later incidentally voiced by the same actor. It's not John de Lancie as a John de Lancie pony. Unless John de Lancie has reality-warping powers in real life that I'm unaware of.

                  1. @thelastgherkin that's only because Weird Al's celebrity isn't from any character he does, but himself. Weird Al is a character in and of himself. I'm sure that before Discord was created, most people would recognize de Lancie for his work as Q. obviously the situations aren't the same, and yeah Weird Al is a bit more over the top than Discord, but they are definitely similar

    2. @snowcone didn't I just say that it's because Weird Al is a character in and of himself? obviously the comparison isn't 1:1, because a pony based off de Lancie himself wouldn't be as interesting. Weird Al, however, sells himself based on his "real" self.

    3. @snowcone I'm pretty sure manipulating reality is a major part of Q's character
