Also for all you social activists, a Federal Appeals Court in Massachusetts ruled in favor of requiring the State to pay for an inmates gender reassignment surgery as prescribed by the 8th Amendment protecting from Cruel and Unusual punishment. It will be interesting to see if this goes to SCOTUS or not.

@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I... what? I can understand letting them have the surgery, but paying for it? I guess it's not my place to say if that's okay
-
@rarity i'm against it. They were already providing therapy, electrolosys, hormone therapy, and female effects. I think that's good enough (though I'm no expert and am notorious for being not too sensitive to transgenders) but a doctor said the operation is neccessary.

@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I'm torn between the fact that I am extremely sympathetic to trans people and that I feel prisons SHOULD be kinder and more rehabilitative, and the fact that well... they're in prison for a reason, I presume.
-
@rarity Well, if you're in prison you can't exactly earn to pay for it yourself can you?
-
@ceruleanspark that's true

@rarity (s)he strangled his wife.

@rarity i'm going to share what I know will be an unpopular opinion and I apologize in advance to the people I may offend but I believe Transgender is seperate from Homosexual and Bisexual and that it is a mental disease. So I'm strongly against providing more unnecesary treatment for a wife killer. Also this is an opinion that I hold very strongly and don't expect people to agree but at the same time I respect other peoples positions and don't want to argue over it because it will just leave people upset.
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I won't argue then
-
@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I disagree but I can respect that.
