I don't think I'll ever get gaming culture.

@lulu Gamers get ten times as popular as people who actually work to create their content and it appleses me off.

@mrmattimation I'm not too familiar with LPs, but ones I've enjoyed have mostly been one of 2 basic things.. Comedy or an easy free way to consume game content.

@lulu You see, that's another thing. Comedy. Everything on the Internet that isn't comedic in some form is "boring". Even the recent apocalypse drama starring all those YouTubers had to use a joke title in order to get any views. You have no idea how much I want to do something more serious. But no matter how hard I work on it, it'll be "that time that guy was even less funny than normal".

@mrmattimation I've heard that starting off in comedy and going to serious is really difficult in other media as well. I'm guessing it's all to do with the audience's expectations. You could make something serious and publish it with a different nom de plume, but either way you can't expect to get much support from the pre-existing audience.

@lulu Seth MacFarlane's apparently been trying to go serious forever, but Family Guy ruined that for him. The closest he&: gotten to that was the recurring role he had in Star Trek.

@mrmattimation I think he'd have to change his style since it's so distinctive (like getting a new pen name), but I don't know what else he's tried beyond animated series.

@mrmattimation Also, serious stuff is usually held to a much higher standard for the fact that anything unfamiliar to consumers will break the illusion of reality, make the suspension of disbelief hard, and repel a serious-type audience.
