There are two certainties in the world: death and my bad jokes

@princelypublictimeline Death from your bad jokes
-
@northernnarwhal today someone asked me "hey ehat two words describe you" and i say "funny, smart, and attentive"
-
@princelypublictimeline 3 Words: I'm bad at math
-
@northernnarwhal @princelypublictimeline You guys, 4 is the cosmic number, you guys
-
@northernnarwhal so my roomate shows me a japanese dress she's wearing and i say "yukata hand it to her, she pulls off the look"
-
@anima no number is cosmic. People made numbers, not the universe
-
@princelypublictimeline You guys, 4 is the cosmic number because: Gimme any number, I'll make it four, with magic, you guys
-
@anima Yeah well it also signals death in some cultures
-
@anima You can do that with any number
-
@northernnarwhal Just give me a number ;n;
-
@anima 4
-
@princelypublictimeline 4 is 4, next one
-
@anima 293
-
@anima pi
-
@anima Φ
-
@northernnarwhal that symbol...
-
@northernnarwhal @princelypublictimeline only rational numbers
-
@mastertdi 293 is 21; 21 is 9; 9 is 4
-
@anima but. but 293 isn't 21. 293 is 293.
-
@anima That's only one way to look at numbers. I could do something similar but with 9.
-
@anima then it would seem you cant back your previous claim. Also, pi is hella rational, you should see pi debate creationists
-
@princelypublictimeline (actually pi is irrational, it can't be represented by an a/b ratio)
-
@northernnarwhal @mastertdi nope , the system says it's that way, now go figure out the system
-
@princelypublictimeline okay then rational and total numbers?
-
@anima Math is literally worse than Hitler
-
@anima I know what system you're using, you're taking the amount of letters in each number. I'm saying that's nothing more than a party trick.
-
@northernnarwhal then what's all that 22/7 business (also, pi is not irrational, it's very evenly-tempered and well-mannered)
-
@mastertdi If you support Math, you're supporting communism
-
@northernnarwhal then explain me how you could use that system with 9?
-
@anima you'll have to forgive me, I find numerology to be one of society's most toxic endeavors outside of grapes and genocide
-
@princelypublictimeline Grapes are delicious you wingding
-
@princelypublictimeline Because 22/7 is only a Diophantine approximation of the value of pi, and eventually creates a non terminating decimal greater than pi. 355/113 is actually much closer to the number, and even then it's still a little bit above it.
-
@princelypublictimeline I hate math. I love 'riddles', so to speak. This number thing hasn't really to do with numbers and calculations
-
@anima Not /that/ system, but a different system where every number leads back to 9. If you take a number and subtract the sum of its digits from it you will eventually be left with 9 (however, it you start with a number 9 or lower you will go straight to 0). Again, coincidental relationship that's nothing more than a cheap trick to impress your friends.
-
@mastertdi grapes was codespeak you gnidgniw
-
@princelypublictimeline My mother was a saint *slap*
-
@northernnarwhal then how do you explain jesus?! *obvious joke*
-
@princelypublictimeline I LOVE YOU JESUS CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIST
-
@anima numerology is all about patterns in numbers, and essentially what youre doing. Numerology, and the flawed logic that gets people to find nonexistent meanings behind numbers or their patterns, is dangerous when fueled by that pesky thing called confirmation bias. I have to deal with it every day, with people telling me stuff like "fibonacci sequence can be found in nature, therefore my religion is the correct religion" or sometimes they just want you to buy whatever theyre selling.
-
@princelypublictimeline How the hell does the Fibbonacci sequence confirm religion?
-
@northernnarwhal ask the whackjobs who keep telling me nature cant make patterns by accident
-
@mastertdi like in the val kilmer movie? *unslap*
-
@princelypublictimeline dole that, I'm not talking to those weirdos
-
@northernnarwhal im forced to work with these people
-
@princelypublictimeline Where do you work?
-
@northernnarwhal security job at a mall where most of the guys are in their 60s, and my other job is landscaping where the boss eats up all the metaphysics hype and spiritualist crap.
-
@northernnarwhal my supervisor one day asked me "but if we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys" and i wanted to stab myself with a rusty spoon
-
@princelypublictimeline me they don't understand how adaption functions #nsfw http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/759251
Crusader 8 likes this. -
@northernnarwhal *me when they
-
@northernnarwhal wow that made my month
-
@princelypublictimeline I know the kind of people you're talking about. The kind that talk about evolution despite knowing nothing about it other than "monkeys come from humans blasphemy lol". They're the kind of people that don't know that the scientific method involves drawing conclusions from facts, not the other way around. They're the kind of people who don't know the difference between a theory and a hypothesis. They're the kind of people who don't know that Charles Darwin didn't even use the word "evolve" or any of its variants in "On the Origin of Species" because the word implied progress, and his ideas involved adaptation. The kind of people who are too close minded to research the ideas they're condemning but have the audacity to berate you for not going to their church. With this in mind, I feel like I should say that I do have friends offline who are Christian who are great and intelligent people, and what I'm saying above refers to a specific few I've encountered.
-
@northernnarwhal it's always weird when i meet a smart christian. I'm like, how does that work lol
-
@northernnarwhal of course it always boils down to them taking comfort in the belief and that's why the security blanket is still there
-
@princelypublictimeline I guess a smart christian is one who doesn't make it painfully obvious they're christian.
-
@northernnarwhal sounds more like common courtesy
-
@princelypublictimeline Well, the ones who understand that religion, more than anything, is a personal affair and are capable of acknowledging that there are other beliefs.
-
@northernnarwhal yeeeeaaaahhh... tis a shame too many people make money off that stuff
-
@princelypublictimeline Well, I generally try and avoid religion altogether these days. I was raised in a catholic family but I feel as though personally my life has been much happier without religion.
-
@northernnarwhal happier? But i saw a movie called Gods Not Dead and THEY say nonbelievers are miserable and lonely! ;)
-
@princelypublictimeline *becomes a believer* Okay, I'm still miserable and lonely. nowwhat.png
-
@northernnarwhal eeyup
