@clayinthecarpet I'm fine if you don't want to get a professional diagnosis for monetary or whatever other reason, but as someone who's spent his entire life with two (professionally-diagnosed) autistic older brothers, seeing someone use a self-diagnosis of it to explain themselves just... rubs me the wrong way. Not to be rude, but I've seen a lot of people who aren't actually autistic do just that and it trivializes the disorder.

@clayinthecarpet I just don't like seeing people go "oh, I'm autistic so X" when in everyday situations that's not how it works. That's never been how it worked for my oldest brother. For my second oldest brother that's been how it's worked, but his is incredibly low-functioning (I'm talking a twenty-year-old with the mindset of a three year old, screaming fits et al). The disorder is a struggle, yes, but it's not to be used as an excuse or a buzzword. Please and thank you

@redenchilada It works in EVERY situation. My point of view will NEVER mesh with yours. My mindset is of a 20-something-year-old and it is inclusive of those who are not, by your standards.

@clayinthecarpet if you use it as an excuse that's really applesty of you. IMO that's something that an autistic person's caretaker (if their disorder is advanced enough to need one) does, not the person. But that's my two cents which most people tend to ignore so

@rarity My doctor himself told me "Those tests you took online to prove you're autistic? Yeah, that's all that anyone would do to you officially. Going to this other guy near Knoxville will examine your brain more in depth, but it will cost a bunch more.
