  1. People are really getting this worked up about the Berenst(a/e)in Bears? http://woodbetweenworlds.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/commenting-on-berenstein-bears.html

    1. @scriboos I personally have existential crises based on vague memories of insignificant details of life on a daily basis. Most recently was when I opened a box of tangerines when I was sure it had been filled with clementines.

    2. @scriboos He was just wrong about a memory that pertained to his childhood. Not much to be worked over about I guess. But it is still surprising and a good way to talk about how we trust our own minds so much so that it can be hard to trust other people when we are wrong.

      1. @potatao Yeah, I seem to recall searching for "Berenstein Bears" once, only to be corrected and just going, "Huh. So there's that." But there are so many people getting so worked up about this one issue, it's kind of a trip.

        1. @scriboos what I don't get is why people are so assured in their belief in the spelling of a children's book series

          1. @rarity Same. Especially given that the iconic covers and stuff tend to be written in a cursive script, aimed at an age group still learning to print in block letters. A and E look pretty similar in lower-case cursive.

          2. @rarity We have no other way of knowing, it is comfortable to trust our memories, not many people know they change over time and change drastically. It is one hell of a revelation to come across that your mind changes what it remembers due to decay.

        2. @scriboos Well, to be wrong about something for so long, something that you tell other people to be tre, and, then be wrong. It is still mind blowing. Yes, this one may be a bit trivial. Not everyone questions reality when they are wrong though. Or questions their own mind.

        3. @scriboos Until this exact moment I always thought it was the Barnstein Bears
