So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. @zeldatra it's basically taking about race without mentioning it so you can say "WE WEREN'T EVEN TALKING ABOUT RACE YOU'RE THE REAL RACIST". When you say stuff like "Don't go to Detroit because it's full of thugs", everyone knows that the person means their racist view of black people. "Thug" is one of the biggest dog whistles really, since it's basically the N-word that you can say on TV.

@rarity I appreciate that you took the time to explain this to me. Thank you. However, like I said before, none of what I am saying is at all influenced by race. Whether or not King is famous because he was beaten as a result of his race is a different story, because I do genuinely think race had a lot to do with it. But right here, what I am saying right now about him, negative or positive, is in no way influenced by his race.

@zeldatra it doesn't matter if it's influenced by race. Why say it at all? All that you could possibly accomplish by degrading his character is give people a chance to reinforce their prejudices. People who are subconsciously racist/flat out racist WILL use what you said as an excuse to believe he deserved to be beaten.

@rarity Maybe so, but I refuse to hold back a criticism just because bad people might use that to say bad things. I'm sorry if you were offended by what I'm saying but I genuinely don't think anything I'm saying is inherently wrong, and yelling at/calling me a racist isn't really going to accomplish much.

@zeldatra you may not be racist but you're perpetuating racist thought. My main question is why would you even post that post in the first place? What were you trying to do? No one here had been sucking RK's johnson and calling him a saint, so why rebut a position that no one on RDN is holding?
