  1. Apparently they unpapayased Destiny in europe. Good job guys. Your tier one allegedly triple A title was only inaccessible to 60% of your customer base for a solid 24 or so hours.

      1. @critialcloudkicker because Bungie hard-coded the server-region detection into the game, then promptly pushed an update to Europe that would only be compatible with the region 1 servers. The servers then promptly locked out the entire subcontinent because the disks they were using didn't match the region the updates had installed.

      1. @mrmattimation To be entirely fair to Destiny: I am still playing it, and the good aspects do outnumber the bad ones. The sound design is amazing, the worlds are stunning and fascinating to explore, the gunplay is unimpeachable, the PVP is fun, the coop is intense. Generally the whole thing is really polished. It's the human aspect that causes the problem: Bungie doesn't have a clue what they're doing. Think "Rockstar at GTAOs launch" level of knowledge.

        1. @ceruleanspark Hard words for a game where thousand gamers were having more fun shooting a cave hours on end than actual game-content http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20140926 ... But hey, who knows, maybe the game is actually fun. I have not tried it yet, but at the same, well. My engine is not going to rev at the thought of finding out.

          1. @critialcloudkicker The game is a diablo-esque search for increasingly powerful loot. It just turned out that players found they could short-circuit the part of the game that takes effort (Exploring and shooting things) and still get their reward (Item drops). It's like those rats that pleasured themselves to death. People, particularly gamers, optimize for max reward/least effort, even at the cost of actually enjoying themselves.

            1. @ceruleanspark it's the same way in Diablo as well

              1. @rarity GTAV has the same thing: people will literally repeat the same mission over and over (Literally hundreds of times a day) because it's the shortest mission with the biggest payout. Where it gets rage inducing is that the same people who're intentionally making their experience boring and repetitive complain /at the devs/ that the experience is boring and repetitive.

          2. @critialcloudkicker Also if you ever try to prove a point by linking me to CAD again I will set Liam Neeson on you.
