  1. "Food sampled by cats is considered halal" I wonder to which extent this applies. If a cat samples pork, can a muslim eat it? Wish i knew a muslim to ask.

    1. @nerthos That's actually a really good question. Too bad I don't know any Muslims nearby anymore.

      1. @saintnichawlas I'll have to look up a muslim somewhere.

    2. @nerthos It does go all the way. In Islam, the cat is a sacred and pure animal, and it was believed that if a food is unclean or improper, a cat simply wouldn't eat it. This belief is not often honored in the modern day, as it is believed that over the years cats became corrupted and what not and are not as pure as they used to be.

I know quite a few Muslims, and that's what they told me.

      1. @fyf Oh nice! If I ever go to a muslim country then, I'll take my cat with me.

        1. @nerthos The cat just has to eat the food entirely by choice. It can't be because it's starving or otherwise desperate and what not.

          1. @fyf My cat likes most of the food I like, and if I don't stop her she'll climb on my lap and start eating from my plate most of the time.

            1. @nerthos Then I guess you're eating a purely halal diet. Well done.

              1. @fyf Cool. One less sin in my list!

                1. @nerthos If anyone questions you, remind them that questioning the will of a cat is like questioning the will of Allah himself.

                  2. @fyf Hm. I wonder if I could get out of paying that extortionate $500 pet deposit by pretending to be Muslim while bringing in a cat (make a bunch of noise about "religious freedom").

                    1. @m14brony Or maybe you could get it registered as a service animal. Like a therapy cat or something.
