@nerthos It does go all the way. In Islam, the cat is a sacred and pure animal, and it was believed that if a food is unclean or improper, a cat simply wouldn't eat it. This belief is not often honored in the modern day, as it is believed that over the years cats became corrupted and what not and are not as pure as they used to be.

I know quite a few Muslims, and that's what they told me.
