@renovatedkitchen hi there guy
-
@renovatedkitchen yo
-
@renovatedkitchen hey
-
@rarity Hey Nico! What's up?
-
@northernnarwhal hey narwhal!
-
@yodelerty Dane the mane! What you up to?
-
@renovatedkitchen How have you been lately? Been up to much?
-
@northernnarwhal gettin turnt, work on the car, just the usual every day stuff
-
@renovatedkitchen At 4 in the morning?
-
@renovatedkitchen trying new things and enjoying life
-
@northernnarwhal yeeeeeee!
-
@rarity nice! What new things?
-
@renovatedkitchen Man, I can't recall ever getting turnt at 4AM, I'm more of an afternoon/evening drink kinda guy.
-
@renovatedkitchen Snus and cheap energy drinks! A weird combination but I dunno, it feels good to not be a depressed sack of mangoes for one night
-
@northernnarwhal start in the afternoon go till the am. FTW!
-
@renovatedkitchen I'll definitely be drinking by this afternoon
-
@rarity what's snus? I rely on my alcohol for that. It's super expensive in Canada though :(
-
@northernnarwhal when you put it like that. Lol. I'll just take a mid day nap to recover
-
@renovatedkitchen Snus is a swedish smokeless tobacco that, unlike American dip/chew, is pasturized instead of fermented. It comes in pouches you put in your upper lip, no spitting and no mess
-
@rarity that's pretty cool, where you get it from? Gives a headrush?
-
@renovatedkitchen surprisingly, my gas station carries the only brand available from retail in America. I might import some other brands though. And yeah, it does, but not nearly as intense as things like Copenhagen
-
@rarity I generally stick to Cope simply because I enjoy the headrush.
-
@eeeie I enjoy it at first but it really makes me queasy once it's worn off. That's probably since I'm not a heavy tobacco user, and I only vape 3mg juice (even if it's from a dripper)
-
@rarity I generally also prefer Cope for the same reasons
-
@northernnarwhal maybe I'm just a weenie
-
@rarity Fair enough. I think you said something about General having a smaller amount of nicotine too (unless I'm remembering wrong) which would also be good for someone who isn't a heavy tobacco user.
-
@rarity My body is just (for better or worse) very used to tobacco
-
@rarity Copenhagen? Sounds exotic!
-
@northernnarwhal Yeah mine too. Definitely for worse.
-
@eeeie I'd say for worse for me too, but eh, nothing I can do about it now
-
@northernnarwhal True, but I really can't say that like being a smoker has had an overwhelmingly positive effect on my life.
-
@eeeie I understand, and I sort of feel the same. It's why I've been trying to quit, or at least reduce my intake.
-
@eeeie all snus usually comes in various strengths, the standard though has a nicotine content of about ~8mg/gram, while Copenhagen Wintergreen has similar. However the free nicotine levels (what's absorbed) are lower for snus
-
@northernnarwhal However, on the other hand, I can't honestly say it's been entirely negative either
-
@renovatedkitchen if by exotic you mean "the prefered brand for rednecks everywhere" then yes :P The name comes from the Swedish influence on smokeless tobacco, American dip is a child of snus.
-
@rarity Huh. I'm wondering now why smoking nicotine gives a stronger headrush in snus while you're technically receiving less nicotine. Must have something to do with the way it enters your body.
-
@eeeie smoking's headrush can generally be attributed to the extra chemicals the companies put in to increase nicotine absorption at a higher rate (ammonia etc).
-
@eeeie Hey, I LOVE a good headie when I get one. I've had lots of fun smoking in the past, and I wouldn't be the same if I hadn't done so.
-
@rarity Well what I meant to say was "why smoking gives less of a headrush than snus" then it occurred to me that it's dip that has a stronger headrush, and as you've established quite clearly there's a difference.
-
@rarity ah. I thought it sounded German. But the red necks got that dip stuff down to a science! Lol
-
@northernnarwhal I like to think one day I'll actually quit for real instead of starting back up a month later.
-
@eeeie Ha, you and me both. I might have some chew for New Year's though.
-
@eeeie it's definitely there with snus, it's just... slower? the tobacco has to be moisturized through the pouch and stuff, and then it releases gradually as opposed to cigs. Dip is right there against your gums so it's quicker
-
@rarity A slower headrush doesn't actually sound bad. Actually sounds kinda pleasant.
-
@rarity Yeah, you don't feel dip at first then the headie suddenly hits you out of nowhere and it's really strong.
-
@eeeie I definitely recommend it, and honestly the concept of using another tobacco product to "quit" smoking is dubious, but many Swedish studies show that if you're going to consume tobacco Snus is the safest way to do it. IIRC pasturization doesn't produce as many... Tobacco something something carcinogens? I forget the term exactly
-
@rarity Well to be clear I have no actual intention of using snus or dip or anything to quit smoking, it's just something I want to try.
-
@eeeie Yeah, I mean it's not really quitting anyway like vaping. but it's enjoyable, and what's life if you can't enjoy it
-
@rarity Hey, I just dip for the headie. Also way less chemicals than cigarettes. Tar is awful.
-
@rarity If I ever do finally quit I'll either turn to vaping full time or just force myself away from nicotine altogether. Anything else doesn't really feel like "quitting"
-
@eeeie Generally I consider turning away completely quitting but vaping is more of a "healthy" alternative. I use healthy loosely, meaning healthier by comparison.
-
@northernnarwhal I feel like I would just wind up turning to some other vice if I quit completely which could end poorly.
-
@eeeie and that's the thing, everyone has vices. it's just up to you to choose them. if quitting smoking is what you want for yourself, then you should do it, but if it's not that important to you there are ALWAYS worse things you could be doing
-
@rarity For sure. I feel like the reason I always fail is because quitting isn't something I actually want to do so much as something I think I should.
-
@eeeie In my position I'm totally fine with my tobacco consumption since I know I have an addictive personality. With my family's history of alcoholism I'd much rather be doing this than doing that
-
@rarity That is a very good point honestly.
-
@eeeie Yeah, and to be honest life is short as it is and smoking as well as dipping is just fun, simple as that. Obviously I'm trying to control my tobacco intake a bit more, but some here and there really isn't that bad. Or at least I'd like to think so, since I can't see myself quitting indefinitely any time soon.
-
@northernnarwhal I usually wind up quitting fairly easily for a while, but then the slightest trigger breaks me like a twig.
-
@eeeie Yeah, I'm sort of the same. Or I'll just be totally fine with it for a little bit then one morning I'll just wake up and feel like total papayas and will be continually sick as cherries if I don't get some nicotine in my system.
-
@northernnarwhal It's always the dumbest, silliest things that break me too. Kinda pathetic honestly.
-
@northernnarwhal The most recent time was an exception not the rule
-
@eeeie Yeah, usually nothing in particular breaks me time just eventually catches up with me and grapess me over.
-
@northernnarwhal I can generally handle the actual like, physical withdrawl effects for the most part. Probably just from experience.
-
@eeeie I'm really used to taking tobacco in, but I still am pretty awful with handling withdrawl.
-
@northernnarwhal I've had enough withdrawl from enough things that I guess I've just learned to handle it.
-
@eeeie Yeah, you've done harder stuff than I have in the past. I'm pretty casual but I plan to keep it that way.
-
@rarity good mangoesing lord
-
@northernnarwhal just the picture makes me want to gag. I've seen that guy's videos and it's even worse, and not just for the full can of dip in his face
-
@rarity I feel sick just looking at it, I can't imagine what that feels like
-
@northernnarwhal probably like hell. You know he swallowed some too
-
@rarity Well he has a "Jeff Gordon fan parking" sign in the background so there's that.
-
@eeeie Jimmy J for life
-
@rarity Oh, that's not good at all. Number 1 rule is you don't applesing swallow, that'll make you vomit like a motherdoleer later.
-
@northernnarwhal yeah well this guy is probably so addicted tbh that he could probably never spit when dipping regularly and be fine
-
@northernnarwhal
>swallowed cope once
>didn't vomit
Aw yeeah -
@eeeie How much did you swallow?
-
@rarity That's true, I would never be able to do that though
-
@northernnarwhal Like, four? I don't know dipping terms. Like a full handful.
-
@eeeie I swallowed 4 Copenhagens once and now I'm gay
-
@eeeie That would probably be enough to make the average person vomit. Well done in not doing that.
-
@rarity same
-
@northernnarwhal I guess I just have a strong stomach, the last time I vomited was like... a week ago when I had food poisoning. Huh. That's not impressive at all.
-
@eeeie I guess it sort of makes up the rules as it goes along, eh?
-
@eeeie BOUT A WEEK AGO WEEK AGO
-
@rarity NICO WHY
-
@northernnarwhal papayas WITH US AND THEN WE TWEAKIN HO TWEAKIN HO RAN UP ON THAT kiwi GET TO SQUEEZIN HO
-
