          @rubyscript What service is he using? Hotmail compatibility has been pretty broken in my experience. Haven't been able to enable email notifications in about a year.

                  @rubyscript Tell him to log in, go to settings (the gear icon) then the Email tab, cancel the email activation and put it in again. See if that helps.
