  1. In light of recent events, the school board has decided to DELAY THE papayasIN' INEVITABLE by having us come to school two hours later than normal.

    1. @mrmattimation I really fail to see how that accomplishes anything.

      1. @eeeie Two hour delays are dumb because they have to squash four classes into a very short amount of time while still making room for four lunch blocks, which means that one of the periods has to be two hours.

        1. @mrmattimation At that rate they might as well just give you the day off.

          1. @eeeie The board doesn't understand that you can't cover like ANYTHING in the time you would be given under a delay schedule. Genuinely the only full class we'll have tomorrow will be second block.

            1. @mrmattimation Yeah, sounds absolutely pointless.

                1. @mrmattimation Your classes regularly start at 9:00?

                  1. @northernnarwhal Yeah.

                    1. @mrmattimation Oh man, mine start at 8:00 but I usually have to wake up at 6:30 if I'm going to catch my bus, which comes stupidly early in the morning despite me not living exceptionally far from my school.

                      1. @northernnarwhal I wake up at 7:30, do my thing, then go to my bus stop at 8:30 to catch the bus which arrives at 8:35. Today was a very exceptional day because the county refused to cancel classes even though the roads were literally covered in snow, so I went to my stop at 8:30 and didn't get picked up til around 8:45, at which point I was on the bus until 9:30 while people tried to get their apples together and figure out what the apples was going on. The ride to school this morning was MISERABLE because not only was it slow, but we took several detours so that we could find roads that were passable and pick up any stranded kids whose busses never came.

                        1. @mrmattimation Oh gosh, that sounds awful. Generally I wake up at 6:30 and after my morning routine I'm out by around 7:15 to catch the bus for 7:20. My school is thankfully pretty quick to cancel buses, though they're awfully more reluctant to cancel school itself. This is usually pretty good for me though because that means as long as buses are cancelled I can legally not go to school on account of "weather related absence".

                          1. @northernnarwhal That sounds great. Around here buses and school are canceled at the same time, never one or the other.

                            1. @mrmattimation I'm pretty excited for next semester because I'll have a spare for my first period, which means I won't have to actually be at school until my second period starts, which is at 9:35. So I can wake up a hell of a lot later and just bike to school (since that'll be around the time the weather is nicer and biking weather will be starting up again).

                              1. @northernnarwhal I'm actually already done with most of the stuff I need to do to graduate with an advanced diploma so next year I'm eligible for early release.

                                1. @mrmattimation I will probably take one or two courses next year while I'm taking the year off to work so I can still get insurance. If I'm unemployed without education or job benefits I don't get that, and working retail isn't gonna get me any benefits whatsoever.
