@metaltao So, what color is the dress? No scientific explanations, please, since there are enough out there. I'm just curious what people see. http://40.media.tumblr.com/a391a1b4b46dd6b498d379e50f96ecbc/tumblr_nkcjuq8Tdr1tnacy1o1_500.jpg

@loveydoe It is Blue and Black, but, For some reason, I have noted that this time around the colour has changed to Purple or a very Light blue.
-
@loveydoe Are we still going on about the dress?
-
@loveydoe papaya! IT IS GOLD AT THE TOP! WTH?!
-
@loveydoe mango! IT IS GOLD AT THE TOP! WTH?!
-
@northernnarwhal I didn't realize it had come to RDN yet. I just saw it for the forst time this evening. :-)
-
@northernnarwhal It is a phenomena. I saw it gold at the top... I am wondering, what law of light is being manipulated here? I know intensity of light does have an effect on colour... But, how? I can see it feasible... But no way of knowing the mechanism.
-
@loveydoe It's all anyone's been going about anywhere I go and yet there's such a simple explanation to the phenomenon.
-
@metaltao There are some news reports that link to scientific explanations.
-
@northernnarwhal No doubt.
-
@northernnarwhal That is what I LOVE to hear! Let me at 'em!
-
@metaltao It's a principle known as colour constantcy. Essentially, because of the lighting in the photo our brain makes assumptions about the colour of the dress that cause our perception of the colour to differ.
-
@northernnarwhal That is, indeed, the thing.
-
@northernnarwhal So, what i am seeing here, may not be the real colour of the dress? And, is this the same thing as the idea thta we have no idea if we see teh same "red" as other people? If, our Colour is the same as the other persons Colour?
-
@metaltao Not exactly, the latter idea you mentioned is a more abstract philosophical concept. This phenomenon is more of an optical illusion of sorts, basically because of the lighting in the photo is exploiting a function of your optic nerve.
-
@northernnarwhal What jerk posted that obscure dress as an optical issusion upon all these people? Becaus,e it was very kind as well.
-
@metaltao Maybe they just took a picture of it and coincidentally the lighting happened to have ideal conditions for the phenomenon to occur, which of course caused confusion among them and their peers.
-
@northernnarwhal Indeed! Very! I wonder if the Postee knew about the Optical illusion's CONCEPT and not the picture becoming one!
-
@metaltao Who knows? It's a popular concept, but it's just not well known by name.
-
@loveydoe Beyoned the arguing I liked this about means, and attention span. http://motherboard.vice.com/en_uk/read/why-did-the-dress-go-viral-we-asked-meme-traffic-expert-neetzan-zimmerman
But since you asked, the arguing was good (its something RDN was made for right? and its Gold And White!!!!!! ) @metaltao @northernnarwhalMetalTao likes this. -
@vcgriffin Aye! I remember that. *sniff* Hello! *burps* Excuse me. How are you? My God I am tired, but, it's SOooo good do see you!

@ceruleanspark now that is a job that didn't exist seven years ago.

@ceruleanspark though I would also expect him to have a knowledge of how regions and other pervasive ideas spread
