    1. @mrmattimation Anime doesn't even have lipsync wtf are you rattling on about

    2. @mrmattimation I'm with Alex on this one...Even for most of the original Japanese dialogue, the lips don't match up to the words at all

    3. @mrmattimation To save on the show's already incredibly dwindling budget at the time, a bunch of scenes in Neon Genesis Evangelion were framed in a way that deliberately blocked the lower portions of characters' faces to avoid lipsyncing.

      1. @northernnarwhal Really? How interesting.

        1. @mrmattimation Yeah, once you notice it it's admittedly pretty hard to un-notice. Though that show (and by extension Studio Gainax in general) are no strangers to putting heavy amounts of their budget into certain scenes at the detriment of many other scenes. Hell, the second half of the television show became really fanservicey to keep the attention of viewers during non-action scenes and to compensate for the downward spiral of production value of the animation.

          1. @northernnarwhal Marvel's animated block on Disney XD does a similar thing. The characters are almost entirely stiff and motionless except for when they're fighting bad guys, at which point their movements are incredibly fluid and complex.

            1. @mrmattimation Generally I can usually forgive weak animation in non-action sequences as long as the dialogue or imagery in the scene is still interesting in some way.

              1. @northernnarwhal The Marvel Universe block is actually pretty interesting, I enjoy it. (Except for Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., which is completely unnecessary because the Hulk continues to be in every episode of Avengers Assemble so the fact that he's got his own spin-off is kinda weird.)

                1. @mrmattimation I actually haven't seen that many Marvel animated cartoons myself. I've seen a few Batman animated series and films though, to varying degrees of enjoyment.

                  1. @northernnarwhal Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man are both on Netflix, I think. They're pretty good.

                    1. @mrmattimation I'll add them to my list, might check them out... someday.

                      1. @northernnarwhal AA also had a pre-cursor series, "Avengers: The Earth's Mightiest Heroes", though I haven't seen that one and I don't think it shares the same canon as the rest of Marvel's animated series'. That's also on Netflix.
