  1. What are the lyrics "I'm ready to lose my feet" supposed to mean? Is this guy getting an amputation or something?

    1. @redenchilada Maybe it's a play on imagery of the ground collapsing below them? That usually signifies a loss of control and balance, so I imagine the prospect of them losing their feet could be them accepting the loss of whatever grounded their life at that point.

      1. @northernnarwhal Yeah but it's funny to think about someone literally losing their feet

        1. @redenchilada I'm still not entirely sure what Cedric Bixler-Zavala meant when he sang "Chrome the fetal mirage" on that one Mars Volta song.

          1. @northernnarwhal Well, without knowing the song at all for context, "chrome" as a verb can mean plating or treating something with chromium (which is hard and brittle), and "fetal mirage" is likely just referring to lies. It might be talking about covering up one's lies?

            1. @redenchilada That... might actually make sense. Especially considering just two lines earlier he sings "who do you trust?". It certainly makes more sense than my previous reading of it, which was just it being a really archaic metaphor for abortion (which is mentioned elsewhere in the song, and also because before and after it he sings "will they feed us the womb?"). But yeah, covering up one's lies works well in the song's context, especially since the whole truth/lie duality is a major theme of the song overall.

          2. @northernnarwhal It means Mars Volta was a Firefox fanboy.
