  1. Every time I see someone in a police procedural open a victim's computer and just fire it up, I wonder I maybe I shouldn't set 32-character passwords on all my machines.... You know, just in case.

    1. @scribus Apparently they have ways of getting around that stuff. Like if there's a car accident and they suspect texting was involved, they can plug your phone into a special charger that unlocks the phone.

      1. @mrmattimation It depends on the phone you have, and how you have it configured. If you have an android will device encryption enabled (which requires a 6 digit alphanumeric password), or an iPhone on iOS 8 or later with any unlock code (or touchID) enabled, they can't do anything. Not even the manufacturers can.
