    2. @clayinthecarpet It's Kikko Hoshino from Concrete Revolutio. Check it out, it's a neat little show from last fall that despite some structural blemishes here and there was an incredibly confident and energetic experience.

    3. @clayinthecarpet Usually, yeah. My written voice is generally just a more organized articulation of my spoken voice.

    4. @clayinthecarpet It isn't the first time I've posted about the show here too, either http://rainbowdash.net/notice/4061972

    5. @clayinthecarpet Lucky you, I have two roommates that have lost their minds over Pretty Cure...

    6. @clayinthecarpet I don't think it reaches the dramatic heights of either of those shows, but Concrete Revolutio (in spite having its own priorities) is pretty wild. That's arguably both one of its greatest strengths and setbacks, actually, it has so much to say but often times works for the space to articulate it. Thankfully its generally strong character writing elevates its drama to a point where it's still pretty much always engaging to watch in some capacity.

    7. @clayinthecarpet Apparently how awful it is depends on which series you watch.

    8. @clayinthecarpet Want me to ask which is the best for a newbie viewer?

    9. @clayinthecarpet If you're looking for something more along the lines of the Monogatari series you should check out Katanagatari, which is an unrelated series by the same writer that features many of his distinct compositional elements (most notably lengthy, character driven conversations that are equal parts playful and insightful) but is also much more focused and contained than his other work (for better or worse). It's twelve episodes in length, though each episode is 50 minutes in length (so it's roughly the length of your average two cour show).

      1. @northernnarwhal I really enjoyed Katanagatari.

        1. @takePotato Knishesakenji Late reply, I really enjoyed it too! It had a really grand sense of scale while still retaining a really intimate sense of character dynamics, especially given the strength of its core relationship. Oh, and that soundtrack is just fantastic.

    10. @clayinthecarpet Yeah, one of the reasons they like it so much is because they're massive sailor moon geeks.

      1. @colfax See, I like "magical girl" as a storytelling vehicle, but I've never really watched a whole ton of Sailor Moon.
