Straight-up there is now not a single way that this election can end well. The general election WILL be Trump vs. Hillary.

@mrmattimation This whole "let's back the idiot who's currently showing well" is really bananaing me off. At this rate everyone who doesn't back either of those two isn't going to vote because they'll be just as fed up. Or at least, it looks that way.
-
@awl Peopel tend to forget, it is the primaries. It is not the final step.
If Trump is up, many will probably vote against him as a last resort... Even if they cherrying hate Hillary. -
@metaltao Nope. I think it'll be the other way. Bernie Sanders supporters are SO SICK of the establishment that a very large portion of them WILL vote for Trump in anger come November, mark my words.
-
@mrmattimation yeah it's gonna happen, I don't bananaing get it either seeing as they have NO policy similarities
-
@rarity Simply because Trump is so outspoken that people mistake that for 'outside the establishment'. Also, Hillary even makes herself out to be the full-blooded politician whereas Trump has pretty much made himself out to be the opposite.
-
@awl I guess a lot of people vote on personality and not policy, which is stupid but whatever
-
@rarity That is why they put out the personality and fluff up their feathers in the first place.

@rarity The way I see it, and I HATE that this is the case, in the long term, a Trump presidency might be a much-needed wake-up call, and here's why. I don't think either Hillary or Trump will be re-elected in 2020. If Hillary Clinton wins in 2016, the anti-establishment mentality is going to get SO big that we'll probably elect somebody even MORE extreme in 2020. On the other hand, if Trump wins, the Republican party is going to hell in a handbasket and from there we have two paths. If Trump DOES in fact get re-elected in 2020, it'll either be because a) a major terrorist attack happened in 2017 and he used that fear to carry him through another election, a-la George Bush, or b) he's somehow managed to not be terrible. But I don't think he'd get re-elected. The second he gets sworn in he will become the butt of EVERY problem in America. Anyway, after that first term, somebody more moderate will definitely take office.
-
@mrmattimation I don't want a moderate, I want a leftist. Trump won't help that, it will only make things more as they are today. The populace equates far-right with far-left, and so we'll never get anyone less than an inch from center for decades.
-
@rarity I know, but if we go the Hillary route then MAYBE Bernie Sanders will have a better shot in 2020, but considering people in a given party don't tend to run against the incumbent, I'm more guessing that literally Hitler could rise up from his grave and a lot of independents could get behind that.
