@rarity It does sell, but it can also be used to push an agenda and/or gain support, as Trump proves.

A gun shop had H&K and Beretta guns in a "1911 guns" section. They should have to give them to me for free due to that advertising error. :P
-
@m14brony Isn't the 1911 like, basically a class of guns now since tons of manufacturers make them
-
@rarity i might be wrong but "1911" refers to tye military designation for tye very first of those pistols, as in m1911.
-
@awl The 1911 is a date. It refers to the orginal model of the gun that was made
-
@awl well yeah, but I always figured that all of the guns that were visually and functionally similar to the original military hardware are colloquially called "1911s" as well, I may be wrong
-
@rarity It refers to a single design of a type of pistol made in 1911. All the others that evolved from that design also have 1911 in their name.
The name was "Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911A1" -
@rarity According to most news channels, all guns are either Glocks or AK-47s.
-
@colfax Ayyyyyyyyy
-
@rarity "Everyone and their grandma" makes a 1911 variant, but it is a specific model of gun. Everything else (USP, VP9, M92FS, Desert Eagle) was entirely different.
-
@colfax I stick to "handgun", "rifle/semi-auto rifle" and "shotgun" for firearm descriptors in my newscasts to keep it simple
-
@m14brony WTF?!
-
@m14brony Lifted right from Faux news.
-
@metaltao It's a "journalist's guide" mocking anti-gun types who want to ban things about which they know nothing.
-
@m14brony Trump is the perfect example of ratings being more important that political agenda for the media. All the supposed "liberal" TV channels are all Trump, all the time, helping the mango out of his campaign. I read that news sources have given him what amounts to over a billion dollars in free campaign advertising
-
@rarity No. People like his agenda.
That is why he is winning.
His demographic is the only one that appeals to it. -
@rarity I mean specific people
-
@metaltao yes, but politicians don't get elected if voters don't know who they are. Hence, all the coverage news stations give him amounts to advertising.
-
@rarity If it just so happens to support someone's agenda, so be it, just pay up!
-
@rarity Everyone knows who Hillary is, and from the hundreds of interviews of Trump supporters shows, they hate Hillary, Ted, and Bernie.
"They don't say it likee it is." -
@rarity Ratings may be a primary aim, but other interests often coincide with such a aim. And let us not forget that liberalism is ultimately a variant of conservatism. As Gore Vidal said, the USA is ruled by one Property Party, and it has two right-wings: Democrat and Republican.
-
@m14brony funnily enough the entire US Political Spectrum falls under "classical liberalism"
