          @mrtiffamation Manga are usually more continuous than most anime. Many anime (especially adaptations) are shorter so as to adhere to the way broadcasting works in Japan

              @mrtiffamation Also it's not really set in stone how long anime or manga can go, it's more of just a weighted average. There are still plenty of short manga and long running anime. So there's definitely breathing room here.

                      @scribus Dunno how familiar you are with the Japanese model, but if you're not the basic rundown is that the structure for their broadcast schedule is based on the seasons and works cyclically. So programming is divided into 3 month (around 13 week) "cours" throughout the year, which is why many regular tv anime will be around 13 or 26 episodes because they will air for one or two "seasons" in the broadcast schedule.
