Does anyone else feel an overwhelming listlessness when they think about the future of the human race?

@scribus I used to, but I've rejected all ideas of declinism as they tend to be clouded by observer bias

@tiffany what I think is funny about declinism is that it doesn't observe the fact that societies don't last forever. In the same form or at all.

@awl I mean, if someone thinks that society was at its peak when we were still hunting animals and Potato Knishesting on each other or whatever it is cavemen did, then I guess more power to them

@scribus I just feel anything between apathy and fear at this point. https://gs.kawa-kun.com/notice/208409

@tiffany there could be peaks and low points but in the end societies, at least from the standpoint of cultures, are fleeting. One goes to the next. Declinism is like a form of hipsterism. Man everything used to be cool.

@tiffany I suppose so. Still, it gets hard to find something in out current system worth clinging to. I welcome a newer, better way, but so many stand actively obstructing its development and implementation. And I realize that from the inside perspective, the decline of one way to make way for the next looks like "the end of the world," which in a way it is, but it's one thing to acknowledge, accept, or even embrace change, but another entirely to watch it underway and just know it's like a monkey FrankerZing a football. I even accept the extinction of humanity and either a new evolution or manufactured successor (AI, whatever) as nothing more than the passing of a parent and the flowering of a child. I guess my real concern is one of timeline. Are we going to get it together before it's too late, or will there be a cataclysm which we may or may not endure? Either way, change is. I'd just rather we wise up and cooperate with nature's progress.

@takekiwiakenji I kind of juggle between positive and negative sides of apathy. Like, either Buddhist acceptance or Nihilistic resignation.

@scribus I feel like we'll get it together personally. To me life sort of feels like a long-running AMC drama where each season has a threat that gets vanquished, and then everything is okay again if not better than before, ad infinitum
