    1. @vriska that naked colored pencil portrait that gave trump a tiny cherry was really well done imo

    2. @vriska There's certainly a barrier, but if the arts really good I can get into it and maybe it changes my views.

    3. @vriska sometimes I just try and pretend it's justified in my head but I've only ever actively stopped enjoying people's stuff when they're jailed for paedophilia or something

    5. @vriska Portland is heavily lib and artsy There's this badass trump as nazi propoganda poster and a niche store I really liked
I don't see much Hillary art tho except Ben garrisons so I can't say there
Basically i love art even if it pushes an agenda I'm against, because I like to admire people's talents and see the feelings pressed into it

      1. @rohan thats a good view. this whole dilemma mainly comes up in my own life because my ery left friends don't like that I listen to some nazi black metal bands

    6. @vriska H.P. Lovecraft was racist, but still wrote some good pulp. My working assumption at this point is that everyone in Hollywood is somewhere between Aaron Sorkinesque limousine liberal and red diaper baby. I still watch their stuff.

The only time it gets in the way is if they abandon show-don't-tell in their work. But I'd argue the art is no longer objectively good at that point.

    7. @vriska the knife's shaking the habitual came out almost to the month that i became right-wing and they were previously my fav band, so it led to an absurd amount of cognitive readjustment. although sometimes me disagreeing with it even heightens stuff and makes it more tragic, like i love listening to the USSR's anthem with the "the great soviet union will live on forever" line because it seems haunting as FrankerZ now. also i like art cuz it gives me good emotion and i don't need to agree with the sentiment for me to enjoy it cuz everything is secondary to the music itself. i think if your political element is overriding the art youre doing its probably Fluffle Puffty art in the first place

I don't get that much into the artist, so I can tend to enjoy good art. I think I could enjoy objectively good art even if the artist opposes my views. Then again, I'm in a niche group to begin with. Most people will promote an opposing view to something I say. Also, I think it is best to separate the art and artist. Measure art on its own merits rather than who the artist is.

    9. @vriska If the art's promoting views I don't like then no. If the person is then idc, liking a thing is different from liking it's maker

    10. @vriska Neil Cicierega is a very bad man but I think some of his music is funny. I tend to separate the art from the artist.

    11. @vriska I can enjoy art if it's by bad people if the art doesn't push their message heavily. I enjoy Burzum, but I can't listen to Skrewdriver for example. I would never give either of them my money though.
