      1. @gameragodzilla I resent the people that make childish arguments like this because it only makes the ACTUAL reasonable arguments that much more difficult to get taken seriously.

        2. @maiyannah Well if people were being reasonable, we wouldn't have had Hillary run in the first place because "mango".

        3. @maiyannah It's those that made childish comments that illegitimatised the arguments against Trump and contributed to his winning; why those that make the comments don't seem to grasp that I don't know.

          1. @awl Because it's not about actually stopping or opposing him, but rather the appearance of doing so, as they desire social credit.  "Look at me fighting the bad people!"

            1. @maiyannah it seems like 'hopefully we learned our lesson' is becoming a meaningless mantra.

              1. @awl "Well I did my part," says the slacktivist, nervously looking at all the other slacktivists around them.  As long as they don't feel they have individual blame for something, people can explain a lot away, rationalize and make excuses.  In psychology, we call this concept the "diffusion of responsibility"

There's a reason these people scream bloody murder if they're held personally responsible for anything.  They join these groups hoping to avoid personal responsibility.

          2. @awl Calling racists racist didn't get Trump elected, no matter how much people would like to make it out to be so.

            1. @ceruleanspark Not the message itself as much as the portrayal of it, via memes and comedic tinge. How serious is that supposed to be taken?

              1. @awl Comedy is an effective way to get a serious point across.
