@crusader8 No I haven't really been doing too much. My computer has gone to poop over the last week. My hardrive is almost constantly solid x.x

@jadenman7 Not really. It means I can go to the movies for a cheaper price lol xD I haven't been able to draw due to my computer

@artisia nooooo first you must work on the basics. Vocal health. Pitch control. Hear yourself and how you control where your voice is at all times. Develop the ear for your voice. Like what I'll do is sit in my car for a few hours and sing songs behind by a just a pinch so I can keep up but hear myself over the song's singer, and hear what my voice is doing when I'm trying to sing like the actual singer.

@yodelerty you wanna sing eh?

@artisia Then sing in time instead and just listen to yourself. You'll have a much easier time matching pitch and volume and key etc, because you can just rewind and retry when you immediately catch yourself doing something wrong. When I'm not satisfied with how I sang a line I go back and sing the section several times before moving on

@crusader8 That's how I do it, except I record myself and listen to both me and the singer. It's easier for me to catch my flaws

@artisia that's why you gotta develop your ear! so you can catch yourself in the act. And other reasons of course

@crusader8 I think it's the thing I want to learn how to do the most, in terms of artistic talents. Not very good at it yet, though. I can never find the time to practice except in the shower.

@yodelerty it's funny because the humidity/water vapor usually is bad for the voice. But I hear so many people claim they are good shower-singers. Weird. I increased my practice time by singing in public while wearing my "you mad bro?" face. Still awkward when people compliment me though, it always catches me off guard.

@yodelerty what singing style are you practicing? Genre rather - rock, classical, heavy, pop?

@crusader8 Mostly rock but occasionally pop if I'm feeling in the mood. Pop vocals are usually out of my range, though. Hell, most rock is still out of my range.

@yodelerty what is your range? Like, tell me a song that challenges your range but isn't necessarily off limits for you

@crusader8 I can also do Viva La Vida, also by them. I mean, I think I can. I'd have to record myself to see if my ears are deceiving me.

@yodelerty talk ain't such a bad song after all. Are you sure that's the peak of your range? Are you trying to sound like the guy when you sing it, because that may be a part of it

@crusader8 Like I said, I don't get a lot of time to practice so I haven't developed a voice for myself, I guess. Plus I have a thing about imitating voices of people I meet and hear. My voice is deep by itself so that may be a factor in range or something.

@yodelerty oh yeah, you'll have to work on not imitating the actual voice. Sometimes it's natural to mimic their voice when trying to match the song t for t though.

@yodelerty maybe that's what you sound like. When I sing in my low to midrange I sound like a mix between Josh Groban and Russel Allen (latter singer is from Symphony X, look up the Song "the sacrifice")

@yodelerty only thing you can do is to continue to sing a variety of music and just sing whenever you have the chance. I practiced imitating the singers' voices for a while but that was just for a karaoke contest to impress the judges.

@crusader8 Ah, I see. Anyway, I have to go to bed (work tomorrow, bleh) but thanks for the tips. I'll try and squeeze in some practice tomorrow while I practice my bass. :D
