        1. @pinkamenadainepie Do you know where to get brony songs? Helping a fellow brony is a cure of boredom :)

          1. @gameboy152 Brony songs? I know tons of them but... like what songs do you need?

Monday, 10-Sep-12 17:09:55 UTC from web
            1. @pinkamenadainepie Preferebly stuff I can download off Itunes. I use my IPhone for most stuff, and I can't jailbreak it. But, I like soft songs, dubstep, all types...

              1. @gameboy152 You won't find any brony songs on iTunes. Besides that, you can put music you didn't buy on iTunes on your iPhone without jailbreaking it as well.

                1. @omni I found a few podcast things, but its mostly radio talk shows, not much music. And why won't ITunes put brony music up? I'd pay

                  1. @gameboy152 Well I gotta go bye!

                  2. @gameboy152 Because of several reasons: 1. Brony music uses samples of MLP: FiM which has not been cleared by Hasbro; 2. Brony artists probably don't have, or want to waste money on putting stuff on the iTunes store; 3. If you want to pay for brony music, pay for some on Bandcamp. At least Bandcamp gives MOST of the money to the artist, instead of keeping most of it to itself like iTunes does. At any rate, someone send me some Pinkamena-related stuff some time ago, but I still haven't been able to check it out. Maybe you'll like it, maybe not: http://tarbyrocks.bandcamp.com/album/something-broke-the-continuing-tale-of-pinkie-pie-ponycide

                    1. @omni Well, some I've seen is all original, but yeah, your right. I'll probably just jailbreak it sometime...

                      1. @gameboy152 You really don't need to jailbreak (though I still recommend it because it can be easily undone and really gives you much more control over your device. Make sure to make a backup of all your data first, though!)

                    2. @omni Strictly speaking, it is record labels that rip off the artists, rather than iTunes. Apples cut on iTunes downloads is 29cents, (about 30%).

Monday, 10-Sep-12 17:26:59 UTC from web
                      1. @ceruleanspark That's still 20% higher than Bandcamp's cut, but good to know. I have been told it was in the 70% region. I'm sorry for spreading wrong information, I was unaware it was wrong. I still think iTunes is awful, though :P

Monday, 10-Sep-12 17:30:50 UTC from web
                        1. @omni To further elaborate: Of the 70% remaining, labels take 58%, leaving 12% to the artist. Now THAT is a reason to support independent artists via services like Bandcamp. To show music labels that musicians can be successful without their extortion.

                          1. @ceruleanspark That's completely and utterly ridiculous...

Monday, 10-Sep-12 17:35:56 UTC from web
                            1. @omni To do the unthinkable and post in defense of the labels, they do serve a purpose by investing in bands and paying to bring them to an audience they might not otherwise reach, and are within their rights to expect a return on that investment. The place where the system has fallen apart is that the labels have managed to position themselves in such a way as to "trap" most bands into a cycle of dependence on that borrowed money. The way the system is now, an artist would have to be successful on the same magnitude as Queen or The Beatles to ever escape that cycle of debt.
