        1. @toksyuryel You'll want to pause when you hit the [S] updates, then. (The [S] means they have sound - usually because they're a flash animation, though there have been a couple with just a static image and sound, and the latest [S] was actually mostly HTML5.)

          1. @bitshift Less pause and more mute. But yeah I'm aware that some have sound.

              1. @toksyuryel Oh wait, never mind. There's no sound, it's just flash for… some reason.

                1. @toksyuryel Sometimes he uses flash to allow preloading of what could otherwise be unreasonably large .gifs. Also some of what appear to be static flashes sometimes have hidden interactivity

                  1. @ceruleanspark It was interactive but not the kind you can justify the use of flash for.

                    1. @toksyuryel Bear in mind that Hussie knew a lot less about javascript/html/css then than he does now - i.e., it was probably doable, but simply not the easiest option for him, given he already had a copy of Flash.

                    2. @toksyuryel when all you have is a hammer, etc. Flash was, at the time, the only tool he had a lose working knowledge of. When you follow the authors notes in the print editions, he frequently discusses the extent to which he's struggled with flash.
