      @mrmattimation Speaking oh-so-tangentially of, and not directly soliciting you, but what do you figure it might cost to get something like Dawn Somewhere's "Rainbow Dash Presents" done for an existing audio podcast?

        @scribus I must admit I actually wasn't familiar with RDP so I had to go watch some of it, and I imagine it wouldn't be TOO expensive, relative to what animation usually costs? Like a five minute video in that style could probably be done in a couple of weeks, something like that probably wouldn't even break a grand.

        Of course it might be better to get an estimate from somebody who does more freelance work than I do, because I know they charge WILDLY different rates depending on the circumstances, whether or not the project is unionized, etc. etc. I did the calculation assuming an hourly rate of twelve dollars, working eight hours a day five days a week (which is probably enough time to do, again, five minutes of RDP-quality animation in about two weeks, especially if they're reusing assets a lot). Unionized projects pay much, much higher, close to forty bucks an hour, but freelancers tend to be really good at adapting themselves to the budget and can charge much more or much less.

          I have a friend who's done work for BrentalFloss and he got paid $500 for a three-minute music video, plus 50% of the video's revenue, so if revenue sharing is something you're able to offer up in general the initial lump payment can be much lower.

            @mrmattimation @scribus Oh yeah, I should add that’s with nonstop work. I know I personally - and probably many others would - charge much much less if the hypothetical turnaround didn’t need to be “right tf now”, which is what my calculations assumed

              @mrmattimation Yeah, no deadline of which to speak. Just idly wondering how hard I'd have to hit the Lotto to get # about half-animated. :p People seem to want a YouTube presence, but we have no video aspect as of yet... lol But thank you for your input.
