@scribus Lets say you picked up an unused scratch card from the floor somewhere and won 40.000 dollar. Where would you even move out to ? I mean, I think I would begin seriously gathering some pro's and con's to living in McCall, Idaho.

@drinkingpony I've been digging on the idea of a van and/or a tiny house and just going vagabonding, but I have no real earthly idea of a destination. It's always been my problem. Might as well try university abroad.

@scribus Well in the very least vagabonding has a way better than than "van hobo". Also yeah that sounds cool.

@scribus you know, this apartment has had me thinking of living in a car. Done it for a week before and one gets used to it. Would be a great way to save up for land ownership one day. And ideal when tou find remote places.

@awl I'd done a couple nights out in my old van. Slept off a nerdcore show in a WalMart parking lot, lol. I admit a certain concern about bears whilst out boondocking, but yeah. I think there must be positive reasons some people are choosing it. Not sure about shelling out the gas for a full-on bus retrofit, though... heh

@scribus bears are a thing for sure to plan for if you go to the woods. I went out to the Badlands and as far as the sand dunes in Nebraska. Kept full camping gear just in case. The big problem I can forsee is warmth in the winter.

@scribus @awl I'm actually considering buying an RV, but I'm not sure if the life I'm planning for myself will be very compatible with living that way. I want to be a physicist, but to do that, I will need to go back to school and then probably get hired by a lab or something. Both of those things would require me to be anchored to one spot for the most part. It seems like any city with any level of population gets real particular about vehicles parked in the streets. I just got a warning sticker from my nowhereville about being parked in the same spot in my neighborhood for over three days. :/

@awl I don't think it's so much a recent thing, so much as a homeowner's associations and people suck in general, but I'm sure BrBa didn't help.

@thismightbeauser Well, the textbook definitions don't really match up, but common use is a bit more in agreement. Definitely not a nice thing for me to have called a person, but hey - homeowner's associations, right? lol
