  1. Oh GOD. They're making another Star Wars movie.

    1. @ceruleanspark On the bright side, George Lucas is merely an "advisor" so it might actually be good this time!

      1. @toksyuryel Is the absence of Lucas sufficient to outweigh the addition of Disney? Seems like they're going to just continue Lucas's trend of trying to treat it as an exclusively childrens franchise.

        1. @ceruleanspark Disney's not nearly as bad as Lucas.

    4. @ceruleanspark According to Dutch news, they're actually going to make three new ones (assuming nobody else said that yet).

      1. @omni Lucas has been saying that since before the Prequels, so I wouldn't be surprised to learn this is in fact the case. It's gonna take a hammer to the expanded universe canon though.

    5. @thatonestocking The EU canon is pretty well established. It's not necessarily /good/, being riddled with Mary Sue's that'd make even this fandom groan, but it is at least internally consistent.

      1. @ceruleanspark Oh yeah and the one time where they killed Chewbacca just so they could write Han as a brooding depressive for a while. Yeah. Fun times.

        1. @ceruleanspark Oh god and the part where Luke joins the dark side as the apprentice of a clone of Palpatine. That was a good one too.

          1. @ceruleanspark How this could happen? It is so much out of character. Where does the clone come from? So many questions and so many answers I don't want to know.

            1. @broniebrown Apparently that was the secret of immortality he vaugely alluded to. He can do conciousness transfer via force powers into a cloned body. I think at one point someone cloned an evil Luke from the hand he lost in Cloud City too.

              1. @ceruleanspark Seriously: What a mess. The extended universe sounds very convoluded.

                1. @broniebrown That's what happens when you start trying to shoehorn all the fanfiction for a setting into a single narrative.

                  1. @ceruleanspark I wanted to say that this story could come from a weird and badly-written fan fic but I hesitated.

                    1. @broniebrown Only this fanfiction is written by a published author with the express blessing of the people who look after the franchise,

                      1. @ceruleanspark Yeah. This makes all worse.
