        1. @techdisk Your government's wasting money on replacing its currency, you say?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:20:20 UTC from web
          1. @redenchilada "wasting money" pffft. Get with the times. We abolished the penny.

            1. @techdisk That's dumb. What happens when an order comes to $3.37 or something?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:22:21 UTC from web
              1. @redenchilada we round up. Easy. Besides. Did you know it costs 3 cents to make a penny?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:22:59 UTC from web
                1. @techdisk Getting inflation under control would be a much better solution than just removing lower denominations, though. :/

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:24:57 UTC from web
                  1. @redenchilada you cant get inflation under control enough to make pennies worth it.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:27:25 UTC from web
                    1. @techdisk Is that a CHALLENGE!? D:<

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:29:27 UTC from web
                      1. @scribus why not?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:29:52 UTC from web
                    2. @techdisk Eh, there are a lot of economic issues that would have to be solved first. I wouldn't say impossible, though.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:30:40 UTC from web
                      1. @redenchilada impossible without drastic action, i mean.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:32:32 UTC from web
                      2. @redenchilada besides, who is gonna counterfeit a plastic bill?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:33:54 UTC from web
                        1. @techdisk Counterfeiters.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:35:13 UTC from web
                          1. @scribus It is just like paper, only it would cost the counterfeiters much more for plastic over paper and processing the plastic into the right thickness

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:37:04 UTC from web
                            1. @erak43 Wouldn't that mean it also costs more to legally produce the money?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:37:56 UTC from web
                              1. @redenchilada Huh, yeah, I guess so

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:39:02 UTC from web
                              2. @redenchilada but the mint has the right machines to process it easily, so no, not really.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:39:36 UTC from web
                          2. @scribus ... who already have enough money to do so. Anyway, something ive always wondered, if old bills are still legal tender, why do criminals even bother with new bills?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:37:32 UTC from web
                            1. @techdisk Eventually, old bills stand out more. I guess.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:38:26 UTC from web
                        2. @techdisk Plastic seems even easier to counterfeit than what we use. Certainly can't be that much more difficult.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:36:14 UTC from web
                          1. @redenchilada a little bit harder than a photocopier, though. And how do you copy the smell of maple syrup?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:38:23 UTC from web
                            1. @techdisk Wait, you were serious about that?

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:39:00 UTC from web
                              1. @scribus about the maple syrup smell? Yes. Completely.

                                1. @techdisk of course the 20 and 50 are also out now and have the same smell.

                                2. @techdisk Wow...

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:43:51 UTC from web
                                3. @techdisk That's funny. It's like, if someone said "Mexican money smells like refried beans!" that would be racist, but "Canadian money smells like maple syrup!" is just plain true. (And American money smells like leather and butt)

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:48:13 UTC from web
                                  1. @scribus we just kinda embraced our stereotype. Or maybe its just supposed to smell like maple trees and not syrup, but meh.

                                  2. @scribus American money should smell like hamburgers and fries.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:53:07 UTC from web
                                    2. @redenchilada actually, by canadian logic with making it the smell of our largest stereotypical export, your money should smell of bullets.

                            2. @techdisk ...You think forging our bills can be done with just a photocopier? That's hilarious.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:39:06 UTC from web
                              1. @redenchilada Arguably, a forgery only needs to be as good as the person you're trying to fool.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:40:34 UTC from web
                              2. @redenchilada its been done before. I saw a show where these guys printed them out, sprayed the fake bills with hairspray, and were able to go to mexico and buy mexican drugs with it.

Sunday, 11-Nov-12 17:41:26 UTC from web
                            3. @techdisk are you saying a photocopier can just make counterfeit US bills? Haha

              2. @redenchilada to the nearest five cents, i mean.

    2. @techdisk I'll stick with paper money, thanks

        1. @techdisk Money shouldn't smell like anything.
