@scoot Going by generation, the best starters are: Squirtle, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, Piplup, Oshawott, Fennekin. There's no arguing with this.

@flamingpandaomg Wrong on all accounts. All of Charmander's evos are super cool. Blastoise and Venusaur are alright but Charizard just takes the gold medal here folks. Next 2 gens we agree on. Then there's Infernape who is a god damn monkey with fire coming out it's head which is like a Gorillaz song title so that's amazing. Snivy is just the most confident little sneaky looking devil meanwhile Oshawott looks like he doesn't know up from down, not to mention Serperior is like a grass type Milotic and I am down with that.

@scoot Infernape = Fire/Fighting = Immediate loss, regardless of badass looks. Snivy's an arrogant Fluffle Puff who thinks he's better than you. Serperior's an over-confident Milotic. At least Milotic's humble and graceful. Serperior is probably just slithers around all the time calling you a mudblood or some dole.

@flamingpandaomg First of all you're implying that Fire/Fighting is always bad which is totally wrong because Blaziken exists so stop with that false logic. Second of all Snivy's incredible confidence makes him so much cooler than "gormless otter" and "fat pig" come ON he is the only one with an interesting design. Also you're just making the last part up you have no evidence so it's all discounted.

@scoot It's not that Fire/Fighting is bad, it's just overdone. ALL OF THE DUAL TYPE FIRE STARTERS ARE FIRE/FIGHTING. Snivy's just the same as Treecko. Treecko was an overconfident dole too. The only difference this time is Serperior slithers instead of jumping from tree to tree.

@scoot Ever since I first saw pics of Snivy I knew I would choose it over the others even though it was back when I didn't care so much for Pokemon. Haven't got round to gen 5 yet but once I'm done with my SoulSilver run...

@ecmc I used him the first time through but I hit a wall as I quickly realised he really never learns any good moves and almost the whole game seems designed to destroy you for daring to choose him. I don't think he was especially effective in any of the gyms and he just couldn't even fight the Elite 4 it was so disappointing. So I tried again with Tepig just to see if it was the game or me but no it was way easier and I destroyed everybody until I got bored and stopped because it's the worst Generation ever

@scoot Shame about that. I know I'll at least play Black/White then when I'm done decide if I wanna bother with the sequel. Also I like to see choosing the grass type as choosing "Hard" difficulty. That seems to be the case with most gens anyway.

@ecmc Oh trust me you'll basically be on European Extreme difficulty if you pick Snivy as your starter. You're weak to all the gym leaders and you never learn any good grass attacks, I did most of the game with Emolga really, because it's way more powerful than it looks
