  1. I just realized that "Rise of The Planet of The Apes" looks a lot like "The Secret of NIMH" on a large scale.

    1. @scribus That is a film I have been meaning to see for YEARS.

      1. @leonkfox I imagine you must mean "Secret of NIMH." :p Good one, one of my favorites even.

        1. @scribus Much like the Highlander and the Matrix, I'm glad that the Secret of NIMH movie never had a sequel.

          1. @mylittlegulo There were also only three Star Wars movies and two Indiana Jones movies ever made.

          2. @mylittlegulo Agreed wholeheartedly, and nothing will convince me otherwise.

          3. @mylittlegulo also, secret of Nimh did have a sequel. I never saw it but it came out in early 2000s

            1. @allanah Lies. Also, "Welcome!" :p

            2. @allanah Indeed. There was no sequel. Some people have this mistaken idea that they once saw something called "The Secret of NIMH 2" and something about Timmy and rescues, but they're wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong. Secret of NIMH never had a sequel. ;)

    2. @scribus To be fair, The Secret of NIMH plot is pretty generic as it's just the "Heroes Journey" AKA the Monomyth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monomyth

      2. @mylittlegulo I thought that the !plot in "Secret of NIMH" was top-notch. lol

        1. @scribus @thelastgherkin I'm not complaining about it, just pointing it out. :) I love the Monomyth and it's funny how far you can apply it; I use it a lot when I write RPG adventures. Sometimes it's more obvious than others (look at the people comparing Avatar with Pocahotas; both adhere to the Monomyth so calling Avatar a copy of Pocahontas is silly since they're all just copying The Odyessy from Homer :D )

          1. @mylittlegulo I think the Avatar/Pocahontas comparison was based more on details than plot structure. The foreigner and the native princess falling in love and all that razmataz.

      3. @mylittlegulo No, seriously, though. The plot may have been standard, but its execution (especially the quality of the animation, and Mrs. F/Brisby's VA) was amazazing.

        1. @scribus Yes, agreed. :) I've bought the movie on VHS 2, 3 times? DVD at least twice? Read the book (Mrs Frisby and the rats of NIMH), wrote fiction about it when I was in school. Wil Wheton and Shannon Doherty were both in that movie, along with Dom DeLuise, David Carradine, all animated by Don Bluth. It is truly an epic film and I'm a huge fan. ;)

          1. @mylittlegulo Is a # appropriate over this?
