              @awlderpy Well, I have found that pre-emptive apologizing (even when unnecessary) can defuse situations that could turn into flamewars.

                  @awlderpy Apologizing is something I generally use to remain civil. If my opinion offends someone, I apologize for sharing it. It doesn't make my opinion wrong or right, it simply shows the other person that I care about their opinion.

              @awlderpy If I feel unfairly criticized I tend not to apologize, but I do try to recognize what the other person is saying without agreeing. If they press the issue then I usually laugh and am like umad?
