      3. @coffeecream They say that when a horse lays down and refuses to stand back up they're ready to die.

        1. @mrmattimation I'm pretty sure people say that to justify shooting horses rather than based on objective fact.

          1. @ceruleanspark I guess. I've only heard it in literally every horse movie where the girl loves a horse but then the horse injures itself and then the daddy gets his shotgun to shoot the horse but then he doesn't shoot the horse and they live happily ever after.

            1. @mrmattimation i've leanred from movies that if the core of the earth stops, you can build a machine to go there in 3 months then explode a bomb thers and everything gets alright

            2. @mrmattimation If a working horse breaks a leg it's generally cheaper to shoot it and buy a new horse. If you have a cherished pet horse it's recoverable but it takes /months/ of expensive treatment and daily vet visits for even a chance at recovery.

        2. @mrmattimation They also say that if your horse is cross eyed and clumsy then it's ready to die as well.

            1. @pony “Go on, Rainbow. When we gonna do it?” “Gonna do it soon.” “Me an’ you.” “You…an’ me. Ever’body gonna be nice to you. Ain’t gonna be no more trouble. Nobody gonna hurt nobody nor steal from ‘em.” Derpy said, “I thought you was mad at me, Rainbow.” “No,” said Dash. “No, Derpy. I ain’t mad. I never been mad, an’ I ain’t now. That’s a thing I want ya to know.” The voices came close now. Rainbow raised the gun and listened to the voices. Derpy begged, “Le’s do it now. Le’s get that place now.” “Sure, right now. I gotta. We gotta.” And Rainbow raised the gun and steadied it, and she brought the muzzle of it close to the back of Derpys head. The hoof shook violently, but her face set and her hoof steadied. She pulled the trigger. The crash of the shot rolled up the hills and rolled down again. Derpy jarred, and then settled slowly forward to the sand, and she lay without quivering. …
