Also, to go on a small rant here. The term "Brony" should not be used, and is, for all intents and purposes, a misconception, do to the fact that a Brony would be more often then not, a MLP FiM fan that uses 4chan and uses the forum /b/ brony also is a label. While the brony community has become big enough to be a sub-culture, does that give the term justification? I was ranting on tf2 with a friend about this, this friend hated bronies, mostly for giving themselves said title and while I can side with him on us not giving eachother a title. I must also side with the idea that Brony is technically a sub culture, not a catagory like furry would be, and while I am a brony I must say that I doubt I should call myself one without justification, and again it depends, There are curretly at minimum 175,000 bronies in the world, is that a subculture? If so then I have found justification, If not, I will need to look further.

@muttstuffle I see no problem with brony as a term. Also, where'd you get 175,000 from?

@muttstuffle I discussed this topic on Tumblr; http://doctormowinckel.tumblr.com/post/8703583063/the-term-brony I think the term sucks and is segregating the fanbase.

@engelhardt exactly, and not only that but there are people who refuse to join the fandom because of the term brony ALONE.

@muttstuffle It's not fun to talk about, and people don't get it. I can't speak about it from a female standpoint, but it's akin to being an atheist. If there were an atheist movement that called itself 'Under God', I wouldn't think I was welcome there. If a female fan is looking at this community from the outside, and sees a 'Brony' forum, or IRC, I doubt they're going to think 'oh that's for me!'. Greta Christina has discussed these things at a greater and far more eloquent manner than I will ever be capable of; http://gretachristina.typepad.com/greta_christinas_weblog/2011/07/why-we-have-to-talk-about-this.html

@engelhardt I always thought that it was just a term for a fan of the show...

@abigpony I am part of the fandom, however, the label can also be a category rather than the term for the entire fandom, Believe me, I am part of the fandom, it's just that brony is a common, but Improperly used, term.

@mrbrown again, this is very true, but because of this, bronies are a tad too close to furries who started out using a catagorising term which then evolved into a f***ing religion. One of many reasons I support the idea of trashing the term altogether.
Sunday, 28-Aug-11 00:40:50 UTC from web-
@muttstuffle but trashing it would require my username to be changed xD

@muttstuffle ...Ignoring the comment about furries, the slippery slope argument really doesn't hold any water.

@squidbombed I'm back and sorry to have offended you, It's just that furries happened to become a cult, I don't know if your friend is part of the cult, but thats the furry I was referring to.
