  2. @derpy128 I've had a lot of great conversations here, that's why I've stuck around despite not even being into MLP anymore. Though I don't usually talk music with the other regulars here I'll occasionally post about stuff I'm listening to or new records I find interesting.

  3. @derpy128 Why did you call her a nerd if you don't know if she is one? :P

  4. @derpy128 That new Floyd record that dropped earlier this year was honestly pretty boring. Incredibly heavy handed art rock that was much too laden in nostalgia to do anything interesting. Kind of a chore to sit through really. That being said, there are a handful of old Floyd records I really enjoy, and Syd Barrett (though his career was short lived) was an artistic mastermind.

  5. @derpy128 Yeah, he's not completely fallen off, he's just out of his prime.

  6. @derpy128 That and I'm Shaken were highlights of that record.

  7. @derpy128 I was so-so on Blunderbuss, the guitar work was good as always though at times it felt like I'd heard all had been done before but better. That's probably my biggest gripe with Jack White in general, at least recently. He finds a comfortable spot and just sticks there without really going too far. He honestly hit his peak with Elephant in my opinion.

  8. @derpy128 That and title track were my favourite off that record. My biggest issue is probably that I felt the second half of the LP was pretty inconsistent. As for Jack White, I really enjoy a certain handful of White Stripes records though his solo material hasn't quite resonated with me as much.

  11. @derpy128 I did, was kind of on the fence about it but it's grown on me a bit. Still not too crazy about it but I do like it to some extent.

  12. @derpy128 Plastic Beach was also a quite enjoyable record. Love some of the accompanying music videos too.

  13. @derpy128 Demon Days is definitely their best. Actually, come to think of it, I'm a pretty big fan of Damon Albarn in general. Blur is great.

  23. @derpy128 When I first heard "My God Is The Sun" last year it was while my friend and I were driving around in Quebec and that opening riff just blew my mind. Actually inspired me to pick the guitar again and learn it.

  24. @derpy128 Yeah man. QOTSA, Kyuss, Desert Sessions, Them Crooked Vultures, Eagles of Death Metal, I've dug everything with the dude's name attached to it.

  27. @derpy128 Oh, it's a well mixed record, I'll give him that. But the songwriting's just kind of shallow in places. It's the sort of record you'd hear in the background of a coffee shop to provide ambiance, and as a holistic piece of work it doesn't really accomplish much. That's just my opinion on it though.

  29. @derpy128 I honestly thought that record was kind of underwhelming. Not that is was necessarily bad, just a safe move on Beck's behalf that ended up being ultimately kind of a slog that didn't contribute much to his great body of work.
