  1. @zazie Well yeah, I got that. That's what I meant. I'm trying to wrap my head around how someone could actually come up with something like that and have other people all approve it and agree its a coherent and sound piece of work.

  4. @zazie I remember you did the exact same thing to me. And it actually made me even happier because it meant you were that committed to my birthday and wishing me well on it.

  19. @zazie I'd be curious to your opinion on The Hobbit animated film if you've seen it?

  23. @zazie I'd also like to add that if there was one thing I enjoyed about An Unexpected Journey it's that Andy Serkis was still absolutely phenomenal in the role of Gollum.

  24. @zazie Also The Hobbit was my favourite book in the series too.

  26. @zazie Overall I didn't dislike any of The Hobbit films though, I just had a lot more issues with them in comparison to The Lord of the Rings trilogy which I hold in pretty high regard.

  28. @zazie Yeah, that was a really powerful scene. But it's really hard to compete with most of the scenes in Return.

  29. @zazie That's sort of my point. The slow paced worked in the original trilogy because it was intentionally slow to establish characterization through banter (since the film trilogy was heavily character driven). We're given lots of insight into the characters and there's enough charm to motivate the viewer to keep watching, but Unexpected Journey plays a lot of its cards closer to the chest and isn't as engaging in that regard.

  30. @zazie Though I do agree that the banter between Legolas and Gimli was quite charming and added a lot to the character of Legolas. My favourite character was Boromir (RIP ;-;)
