    • @scribus I am wholly sympathetic towards people with those sorts of predispositions but at the same time we are at (arguably past) the point where people act like the Internet should be catered towards them and their sensibilities specifically and it's to the detriment of years of societal progress

  15. While researching for a video I found a very cursed PS2 model for Kiara, Simba’s daughter, which is sitting in the game files for Kingdom Hearts 2. Notice how her face contorts into a smile yet her textures indicate a blank expression. Her totally broken rigging. Her oversized clown feet. Somebody at Square Enix had to model this. http://rainbowdash.net/url/875516

    • @scribus I hate IBM-like computers and avoid them for anything that makes sense to at this point. For gaming I look for the Switch version, even if it's more expensive. I like my Chromebook because it's a good platform for Linux without basic hardware nightmares, but it also prevents you from doing much with external devices unless you're willing to defile ChromeOS by sidestepping their VM environment. There are too many parts in any operating system anymore. Apple loves to break backwards compatibility because it becomes too much effort to support everything after a while, but it sucks for the users. Make sure you don't upgrade to 10.1000.2000.12 because it breaks this one specific program that only works on versions .10 and .11. Then you get into this weird situation where two of your tools work in different ranges of versions and you're screwed. I can understand why they'd get rid of 32 bit compatibility, since no computer runs 32 bit processors anymore, but it still stinks

    • @scribus Linux on laptops is almost always a mistake unless it's a Chromebook in Google's VM. There is too much nonstandard hardware that usually something dumb breaks. I tried overwriting ChromeOS with plain Xubuntu on my Chromebook and there was no sound, suspend didn't work, and if you don't install a special version of Ubuntu (Gallium) the touchpad doesn't work right.

    • @thismightbeauser Eh, I knew the audio interface was classed Experimental Support when I plugged it in, lol. I've been mostly on laptops for an amount of time that actually really surprised me when I looked back at it, lol, but I've usually had pretty decent luck doing it. Typically better than desktop, but those were always budget beige boxes I pieced together, so... And I know you just can't keep backwards compatibility forever, even I eventually gave up on keeping my vanity 5-inch floppy drive on my crappy desktops. But there's moving forward, and there's abandonment, I guess, you know? God, I just wish the industry would adopt, and adhere to, more intercompatible standards.

  26. I'm sure it was just some cute little automagic piece of convenience that I won't even hate (that much) once I understand what is going on, but it was working, then it stopped, and I didn't go into any "Remove all audio output" menu that I recall.

    • @scribus Long story short, no computational device should ever do anything the User did not tell it to. If an operator can't operate the device, DO NOT DUMB IT DOWN. If a motorist can't drive, we don't dumb down the licensing test, we put them on the gorram bus!

    • @scribus I'll put a filter behind later. This model doesn't have any fixtures for a filter. After printing I consider thinking about one, or even none. I also could just wear a normal mask under that.

    • @adiwan I was thinking about getting fleshtone spandex and trying to look like I was all eyes without a face, but that involved going out and holding up swaths of public fabric to my face and you can see why that'd be a bad idea even if the stores were open so... :p Anyway, good luck on it!

    • @scribus First of all the scale of my mask has to fit. Due to the scanning process and the myriad of 3d programs I had to use the scale is all out of whack when exporting. So I had to guess the right scale. I used some marker places and guesstimated the final thing.

  29. Disney+ has a collection titled "The Simpsons Predict the Future", which includes episodes of The Simpsons in which they make jokes that later became fact.
