  1. @minti Theoretically if you're downloading an executable file and the end of a loop gets cut off in such a way that the file is otherwise intact and still executable, it could create an error that allows it to execute unallocated memory which may randomly contain an executable sequence that triggers some test code on your hard drive which then damages it. The odds of this happening are so small that the universe will probably reach maximum entropy before it ever does. It's even less likely to happen once you factor in that it can only happen if you actually execute the incomplete file and most systems will clearly mark incomplete downloads and either prompt you to resume them or just delete the file. And most executable files are distributed in binary and/or compressed form which won't execute at all if the end is cut off. In short you should tell him he's very wrong. Very very very wrong.
